October 2012 Weddings

Feel like I am on a roll... (PIP heavy)

Slowly but surely, we have been knocking things off our list. Hope you ladies enjoy!

I kinda missed the boat on the Old Navy flip flop sale but I was walking around Michael's (Do you have Michael's in the States? From what I gather, it sounds the same as Joann's) and they had flip flops in the craft aisle on sale for $2. And I think they're much cuter. The basket was also on sale for $9. I will probably add tissue paper in there too to break it up a bit.

They are glittery animal print... not my style but I think others will like them.

Also got baskets for the bathrooms, to be filled with toiletries... Although right now they are home to my craft supplies because, let's face it, I think we're all running out of room in the house.

We chose our favours... I was going to make cake pops but I really don't think I'll have the time. Instead, we bought shot glasses from the dollar store and rimmed them in black paint (non-toxic of course!). Inside we put cocoa nibs (These are small pieces of the cocoa plant covered in 70% chocolate. Delicious and organic.) We will be making tags for them and they will double as placecards. We are also toying with putting a red ribbon instead of black (Our colours are black and white with red accents).

And last but not least, both my pet project and the bane of my existence... the centerpieces. We started collecting jars from friends and family (pickle jars, sauce jars, etc.) about two years ago and they are taking over my house. I've been trying hard to take the labels off but for half of them, I decorated them to cover the label up. We need about 300 jars in all and I'm halfway there. Anyway, these jars will be filled with white sand with a candle placed at the top. Each table will have a cluster of 15 jars, half of them decorated and half of them not. Here's an example with no sand or candles.

So, that's what I spend my days off doing. Very tedious but I'm sure it will pay off in the end.
