BIG Confession

FI lost his job today.  I'm sad about it and everything, but at the same time, I was hoping it would happen before the wedding (if it was going to happen) because I could really use his help.

Is that bad?  I'm employed full time as a nurse and carry the insurance for both of us.  FI has known his job was rocky for some time so he has been applying for more jobs.  I'd say we are in pretty good shape financially to get us until when he gets another job.  I don't see it happening until after the wedding though, since it is easier to just start after than to take vacation time right after starting.

Re: BIG Confession

  • Im really sorry to hear that.
if you are financially stable until he gets another job though, and he wasn't happy there in the first place, then it's totally cool for you to be happy. It's probably best you look at the positives to help him through it.

  • I'm sorry to hear about the job loss but it's good that you two will be ok for awhile.

It's ok to be happy about it.

  • If he's happy about it, then it's certainly okay to be happy for him.

  • He is actually okay...I think I took it worse than him in the end!  He liked the job and everything, but it was in sales (commission only) and selling something that in this economy isn't easy to sell.

He's got something in the works, so we are hoping it pulls through.  The perks are way better than the previous job too :-)
  • Sales IS such a tough business...sending good luck vibes that your plan in the works works out!
  • Don't feel bad! Just keep it to yourself.

It is nice to get the extra help.  Will he help?

  • Sometimes it can truly be a mixed bag! I'm glad it isn't devastating, and hope he both helps and has something else very soon!

<div>So true!  He has interviewed for another position already and I thought he was waiting on a second interview, but it turns out that they are doing a background check tomorrow.  That should turn out fine because there is nothing to see.  I didn't realize he was as far along with this other job in the application process!!</div><div>
</div><div>This new job offers more vacation time and sick days and lots of perks (for both of us) so fingers crossed he gets it.  He also put his start date as 11/1 so he can help me!</div>
