My wedding will be a somewhat upscale, fancy event at a country club.  There will be passed hors doeurves at the cocktail hour, a seated dinner, etc.  I don't expect the guests to wear tuxes (the groomsmen will though) but I want everything to look fancy and really pretty.  

I'm not sure what to do for favors.  Ideally they won't be too expensive, so something fancy like glasses filled with candy and our names etched on them are probably out of the question.  I was thinking of getting little net bags and filling them with candy, or using a circular piece of tulle to make a pouch, fill it with candy, and tie it with a ribbon.  Do you think these will seem too simple / cheap compared to everything else?

I think that still works as long as it is in your colors and goes with the theme. Even Jordan almonds...everyone thinks they're played out...but I think they are classic

I found a website the other day for wedding favors and they sell nice satin bags that you fill with candy or whatever you choose to give your guests.  They have a bunch of other options as well like organza bags and little boxes, all in different sizes.

We are giving mini wine glasses you can get them at bed bath and beyond 12 for $20 but with a $5 or 20% off coupon it would be less.

We are doing tulle bags with colored circles sewn in.  Our favors are going to be Hershey kisses and poker chips ;-)

Just a quick reminder from the resident alarmist - if you are putting something edible in ANY kind of container, make sure that it is food grade. Otherwise, it may have been processed with harmful substances etc. [/end paranoia]

We were originally going to have a friend of ours make chocolate covered Oreos but since shes not a licensed baker my venue will not allow it. So we decided to do a donation instead I was thinking maybe to either the humane society or March of Dimes. Im still trying to decide how I will put it on the table.. maybe some sort of a card at each seat saying what we did.

We are doing flower bulbs daffodils and irises as it will be the perfect time to plant them! I'm not sure that fits with what you are looking for, though.

I think some edible is always the way to go. We are going to do a simple candy buffett. I know some may think they are played out, but my guests have never seen one before so it will be new to them.

We're doing the same thing.  I've never been to a wedding with a candy buffett so I'm super excited to have one! We're also having a photobooth so between the candy and pictures we're not going to do any traditional "favors."
