Chart vs Cards

I was going to do a seating chart instead of cards, but now I'm thinking I want to know who doesn't show up that rsvps that they are coming.  I could go with both the chart and the cards, but would that be excessive?  Should I just skip the chart completely?

Re: Chart vs Cards

  • I'm doing cards because I found this inspiration picture and I fell in love with it.

  • That is really neat!
  • I'd do one or the other, not both.  Seems like it would just be to much.  I like cards better for the same reason, plus I know a lot of people that like to save them

  • Don't do both; it'd be too much.

I'm doing cards - we have a lot of guests and it'd be such a pain for everyone to crowd around one or two boards to figure out their table number.  I think it's easier to grab the card with your name on it and move to your table.  Plus, I don't have the greatest short term memory, so I'd be the person going to the chart more than once.

This exactly.  I like cards better too.  I think that it is because I think about having to make a chart and it just always seems like so much more work than cards.

  • We're also doing cards. I think doing both is a little much.

  • I think I'll just do the cards.  I know I would struggle with remembering my table too.  We were considering three charts, one on each side of the ballroom door and one in the bar, but I think people will forget their number (especially if they have been drinking in the cocktail hour).
  • We are doing cards too.  I would save yourself the time, especially if you were thinking of 3 charts because that seems like a lot of work!

  • So, how does this all work exactly? I'm doing name cards because my venue wants to have the waiters know who gets veg meals without having to ask the people at the table. (I'm giving them a list beforehand).

I don't even know the logistics of this. Do I put all of the name cards at their seats on the table, and then have a big chart at the front that just lists who is at each table? I've seen a lot of pictures with a table near the front filled with guest name cards, but I don't get how that would work with assigned seating. Help?!
