Hunger games--NWR

Hey ladies...totally off topic but did anyone else read the hunger games? I tend to resist teen books that adults read (Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.), but I finally caved and started to read the first book.

I started Monday night and am almost done....it's a really good book. Then I made a mistake and looked at who was cast in different parts in the movie. Is anybody else surprised by the choices? I was imagining something totally different for Peeta and Cinna especially. I don't know what....just different. Thoughts from others?

When I heard they were making a movie I picked up the books and LOVE them! I'm super excited to see the movie. I was thinking some of the cast didn't quite fit, but actually I thought Lenny Kravitz for Cinna is perfect. He's not quite what I imagined, but still pretty good IMO.

I totally agree with you about the cast not being exactly who I pictured! I actually read the book about a year ago I want to say my co-workers all went crazy over them and we all passed them around to each other! I absolutely loved them, I would recommend that you buy all of them though because one you get through one you will want to move right on to the next one!!! I cannot wait to see the movie!!!!!

LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I was eh about some of the characters choices for the movie, but they grew on me (I've been stalking it for a year).  I'm just mad the next movie isn't suppose to come out until Nov 2013!!!

I devoured the books over the summer, not realizing that movies were being made until after I finished the first one. I am so happy with Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, I think he will be a perfect calm, protective balance to Katniss. As I read the later books, he was all I could picture.

I started reading them last Monday and finished all 3 by Saturday.  I could not put them down.  I thought Lenny Kravitz was a good Cinna but I def agree with you about Peeta.  I expected somethign different.  I'm probably the only one but i was a little disappointed with the ending of the 3rd book.

I read all three books in the same day, I was so hooked, but I was honestly very disappointed with the way the series ended.  I just felt like it was rushed and notvery conclusive?

I totally agree with being disappointed by the cast.  From the previews I think I may be disappointed in general.  The Fire Girl scene for example was so well done in the book and Katniss was epic, and from what the previews showed the scene didnt look that great.

Aaah, I'm obsessed witht hese books. I can't wait until the movie comes out! I was surprised by Jennifer Lawrence being cast as Katniss, I thought (and still kind of do think) she was too old, but then I saw Winter's Bone and I think she'll be able to pull it off, even if she doesn't look 16.

I can't wait for these movies to come out either!!  I absolutely loved the books and finished them so quickly!!  I read during lunch at work and had a really hard time every day going back to work lol.
I do have to agree about Peeta though, totally not what I imagined...and I am also totally team Peeta LOL.

Yeah...I think Lenny Kravitiz has the look for Cinna but I don't know what his acting skills are like. I have a thing against musicians that try to act (and vice versa).

For Peeta I was just expecting something more. I get that he's a baker's son and not supposed to be anything special but I imagined him more memorable. He's just kind of dorky looking.

Definitely LOVE GALE!! Peeta's not bad, but Gale is way better!!

I read the first two on Monday and Tuesday and I haven't had a chance to get to the third one yet.  I looked up the trailer and the actors are definitely not what I pictured, but we will see how they do. So excited for the movies!

Gale does not look anything like imagined he would. I think casting Lenny Kravitz as Cinna was amazing casting work. He looks exactly how I imagined he would. I'm also kind of let down with Katniss. Idk what it is about the actress, but something just doesn't jive with her discription in the book *shrug*.

Just finished reading these books a few weeks ago and I am super stoked for the movie! I really enjoyed them, but I have to agree that the ending felt pretty rushed. I was actually a little shocked by Woody Harilson being cast as Haymitch, but I kinda like it now that I think about it. I'm still skeptical of Lenny Kravitz, but I'm keeping an open mind. The one that really shocked me, not because I think it is bad, but because I totally didn't recognize her in the trailer, is Elizabeth Banks as Effie.
