Opinions wanted

So Yay! We met with the Preacher last night & the wedding ceremony plans are now set.  Our Preacher really likes the older ceremony readings; words like "thee, pledge thy, ect."  It was really beautiful & chocked me up so we decided to go with it.  So our ceremony is going to be very traditional.  Now with that being said... I was originally planning on having my neice walk out before the ringbearer & flower girls, with a sign.  FI doesn't know about this, it would be a surprise.  I saw this cute & funny banner that reads "this is your last chance to run" I thought it would be cute & a little ice breaker.  But now with the really traditional ceremony I'm not sure that it would be appropriate or just seem quacky & outta place.  What do you think??

Maybe have her carry a different sign? I lean toward it being inappropriate for a traditional ceremony. But that's just me. You know your family and friends. Are they likelt to think as I do? Or are they more the laid-back, have fun type?

I think the sign would be a little out of place with the traditional ceremony, especially in a church (I'm assuming since you said preacher).  I think if you were having a more relaxed ceremony in a different location the sign might be cute.  Personally though, I'm not a fan of jokes about being a ball and chain or tied down, especially at weddings at all, especially when it's a formal, traditional ceremony.

Personally, I don't like it.  I mean I hate when people ask if I want some advice and then they say run the other way.  Plus if you are having a very formal wedding, I don't think that this is going to be appropriate,

I think it's definitely cute and funny, but if the ceremony is really traditional, it's a bit out of place.

I personally don't care for it either. I'm pretty non-traditional, but that just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. We are writing our own vows and I have some light hearted jokes in there, but none that are about skipping out on the wedding. I don't know . . . I just don't think the ceremony is the right place for that.

However, if I saw that at someone elses wedding I wouldn't be offended. Different strokes for different folks.

Believe it or not the tied down, life is over, ball & chain jokes always make me mad.  I just poke at FI that if he tries to run the girls are gonna trip him.  But yeah I'm leaning more towards not doing it now.  I thought I wanted a more contemparary ceremony, but after what he read us last night I'm set on it.

I think for a formal, traditional ceremony that it would be out of place.

I love it and think its hysterical, but like others said its kind of out of place to a traditional ceremony. For something informal or offbeat, it would be awesome.

I think for the more formal ceremony, probably not. 

I'm actually doing this one, though! We aren't having a traditional ceremony at all, except it's being done by a reverend from a local church. It's outdoors at my parents house and fairly relaxed. My two cousins will walk down first with a sign that says "Here Comes the Bride" and then my neice with the "Last chance to run!" I think David will be entertained. Only my parents, one of my MOH's and another good friend of mine know about it in advance.

I think it's cute and funny, but perhaps like others have said it might be seen as (and I hate to use this word because it's used ALOT on TK, but..) tacky.  If you wanted to tease him and have it be just between you two maybe the flowergirl could pop in and see him just before or something so it's just a laugh with the groom and his guys and doesn't interfere with the ceremony?  Just an idea to do it differently ;-)

I am going to a devils advocate and say that i think it is a good idea just so it breaks a little of the "stuffy, organ music playing, prim and proper traditonal wedding notion" and puts a smile (hopefully) on peoples faces. But thats just me. like pp you know your guests and the way you and your fiance are so you have to think how it would we taken.  good luck!

This is actually a really cute idea since the flower girls are his daughters & we get along great.  Might need to do something like this!  Thank you!!!
