Getting a lot of Yeses?

Anyone else getting way more yeses than they were expecting?  We are only at 5% No (4 no/76 yes).  I am attributing this to the fact that most people got save-the-dates.  I also think some of the no's will come in later.  I have a feeling one of FI's cousins that is in CA will say no (that is a family of 5) and I have 6-10 relatives I don't think will come, but that still puts us at less than 10% nos!

Re: Getting a lot of Yeses?

  • We, so far, have gotten about what we expected-- more of our "no" answers came in later. I think people hang on to those for longer.

  • yes! I'm loving that everyone is wanting to go, but getting worried we're going to exceed the max capacity for the venue!!

  • While we have only gotten 4 nos and 44 yeses, most of those are consistent with who we thought would come (except for one couple who we are pleased is able to make it).  I too, think that most people who are nos are probably coming later.

  • Us too!  I'm also loving that everyone wants to be there but was hoping to save a little money, lol.  I think it's true though -- the no's will come in later.

  • We're pretty much on pace for the typical 20% decline rate.  Most family members that we thought would be coming are coming...most people that work with FI that we didn't think would come aren't coming (FI and I live 3 hours away from the wedding/reception venue which is close to our hometown...so FI's coworkers would have to travel)

Does that depress you or are you thinking about how much money you're saving?

We're about right where we thought we'd be. No surprises either way yet.

  • Yes! People that we thought weren't going to be able to make it, are now accepting. I was starting to get excited about all the money we were going to save. Is it bad to hope some people I dont know on FI's side say no? hehe

  • All of the "no's" that we've gotten are from people we didn't expect to come. I feel like we still have a lot out there floating around. I really wish people would send them in because I want to work on my seating chart!!!

I'm having this same issue!!! Granted we have gotten a lot of No's back(but that was expected with us getting married on Thursday) so I have room for them, BUT its rude to just assume. My own dad did this to me yesterday. Its not even a girlfriend, otherwise I would have included a plus 1. *eye roll*

Otherwise we are about where we thought we would be with our Yes VS No. About 14% decline rate

  • We're at about 5% no too. I think as we get closer we'll get more nos. I also think a lot of people that don't make the Sept. 20th RSVP cut off will be no. Here's hoping...I'd laike to save some money for sure!

  • I'm having way more yeses than I ever thought I would! It's no big deal, but we just might have to add a little more money to our wedding fund.

  • Ours are about as expected. However, our RSVP date is next Saturday and is say we're still missing at least 50. Our date was a little early and FI has a lot of farmers on his list so many of them will probably decide last minute depending on harvesting and the weather. We anticipated this. Our venue doesn't need our final count until the Friday before the wedding so it should work out fine. Like I said, we set our RSVP date too early. Realized it after we printed but didn't want to reprint and figured the 1st would be easy to remember.
  • We are at about an 85% acceptance rate. I kind of hope we get more no's, but we might get more yeses still too! Who knows!

We did get our second nameless RSVP card back today. The first one I knew who it was from because it was postmarked out of state, but this one is local so I have no clue! It's a no, so it really doesnt matter, and I'll just have to narrow it down when I'm making final calls after the RSVP date.

ha, when we were first trying to set our date, I asked my brother how late he thought they would be in the field....I wasn't pushing it off until Thanksgiving though.  He gave me a lot of grief and said he may not be able to come!  lol  It's not his farm, so I told him I would be calling his boss if they wouldn't give him a few days off!

  • i thought it was weird to plan for people NOT to show up...we planned for all 77 guests to come.   so far only 1 has declined but I'm excpecting more.
  • We have no no's so far. 47 yes's. I'm just happy people can come. FI & I double checked our savings and budget - we'll be good if everyone says yes (even though we know everyone won't). However, it's nice to know that when we start getting no's it's HM spending money!

  • No no's yet, but we only have like 4 RSVP's so far...
Married since October 14, 2012 - Best Day Ever! Wedding-2
  • I am getting nos from some people that I thought/really wanted to come! :-( Disappointing.  Since FMIL said she's paying for most of the reception (up to 125) and our venue has a 120 person min I am thinking I'm going to start having my MOH pass the word around my friends that they can bring a plus one if I didn't specify it on their invite.  As in "oh I just forgot!" kind of way haha
  • I'm seriously going to have to call everyone on our list because no one has let us know except about 18 people and most of those are people I work with!!! So those 18 are all yeses. We did get 2 invites sent back due to lack of postage how did we miss haha...or no such address..so I have to check on that one. She got her STD so that was weird! I'm looking at probably 200 to 250 guests to actually come.

  • I invited a lot more people than I planned to (I wanted about 100 people, my minimum is 110, we were expecting about 120) but my mom just kept adding people to the list (my parents are paying).  So far we've only received yeses from 2 couples who I thought would be nos.  Hopefully, like many of you said, the nos will come later.
  • We ended up inviting more than we planned, but we will make it work.  There are people that were obligatory invites (from FMIL) that my FI thought would be nos, but they got invited to the shower (long, annoying story) and they're attending - which makes me think they'll likely come to the wedding too.  I'm planning for 100% attendance (minus my cousins that live far away and have kids in school and have told me they can't make it), but my FI is worried that it will be empty and sad looking in the room (I think he's ridiculous).   Luckily, we have a large range of numbers between our minimum and the room capacity.
  • We've had about 15% of people RSVPs decline. All except 1 couple were expected since they're international and the couple we didn't expect to say no has a family wedding that day.

  • We haven't gotten a single no yet and we only have 13 people left to respond! Though, we have 5 guests that can only join us for the ceremony and not the reception - and they are all coming from out of state.
Just my two cents! Penny L G M
  • We have more Yeses than Nos. We have had a couple of nos that I was sure would be yeses so that was sad for me.   We have about a 14% decline and 67 people (not actually invitations) who have not responded.  We are expecting about 10 more nos.

Why would you invite more than the max capacity?  You should always plan for 100% attendance.
  • I'm calling our 81 yes's and 3 no's at this point the "Florida Effect" because everyone is making at a Disney vacation since the wedding is so close to Walt Disney World.  I'm in shock and my parents are too.  Family friends and family members who normally wouldn't make such a trip are coming afterall.

  • I've gotten one No... and about 15 yes... Not many have responded from his side which is kinda odd ? I'm getting freaked out that my 130 total is really gonna be 150 and I'm starting to kinda freak out and dont wanna upset my Dad ...But he kept telling me invite invite invite people will say no ....
