Wedding Venues in the Philly area/ Chadds Ford...

Hi yall, Im looking around for vendors/caterers in the Philly area. I found The Gables at Chadds Ford that looks gorgeous and fits with my country themed wedding. My only concern is the cost of the food. I was quoted $35 per person(which is a good deal, I think). But I forgot about the tip/tax which raised the price a good $700..Im trying to plan my wedding on a budget of $5000. I also have not seen any pictures of the courtyard where we will be having our ceremony. I live in NC so I cant just drive over there to look at it... Does anyone have any vendors they know of that is cheaper? There will be about 60 guests and I would love an outdoor ceremony. Or maybe some info for The Gables at Chadds Ford or pictures they would like to share.

what time of year are they quoting that price for? you might get it lower off season, tho I know for some that's no doable. Or decrease the amount of time you're having an open bar. Or cut to beer and wine only or just a signature drink. Cut to just cheese and fruit appetizers. Bring in your own cake, that can cut things a lot. So can serving cupcakes vs. a tiered cake. my daughter is having her wedding at The Ballrooms at Boothwyn about the same price though and for Feb. I think you'll have a tough time going lower than that other than a church hall or similar type of venue. We went w/Boothwyn because we really liked the people there. Just call and ask for Tim, I think he does most of the quotes for weddings.
