rehearsal dinner Q?

Ok so my DJ is actually doing ceremony and reception. So I have him for the night of the rehearsal as well for a run thru. Well I know with WP its proper to invite their spouses or SO's for the dinner. I planned on inviting the preachers wife but the preacher is my aunt's brother so they're almost family. Do I also need to invite the DJ's wife and little boy to dinner as well? Side note: they're not strangers. We all went to high school together but they're a grade younger than me. I "dated" DJ in 7th grade and FI dated his wife at some point so he says. Needless to say yes we know them but we aren't friends or anything. So needless to say since he'll be there working...I was going to just offer that he could grab a plate but do I need to send them an actual invite?

  • I wouldn't send a full invite, but definitely mention it to him that his wife and son are more than welcome to join in.

  • Are you inviting the DJs family to the ceremony and reception?  If not, don't send them a formal invitation - it'd be rude to not invite them to the wedding in that case.  You could still mention in passing that he can bring his wife and kid, but he might not want to since he will be working and it's certainly not necessary.
