facials?

Anyone getting a facial before the big day? I was thinking of going Thursday since the wedding day is the 13th. But Im hearing mixed things so people say your shouldn't wear make up for a week after that some say just a few hours. Anybody know? I thought with 3 days I should be safe.

Re: facials?

  • Every one says 10 days if you have not had one at that spot before!  You never know what kind of reaction you might have!!! I went to one lady and a few days after my face (clear when I went) broke out like CRAZY! (I found a new spot and had a facial with no reaction and will get one three-four days before my 13th wedding too!)
  • The reason your face broke out is BC it pulls impurities to the surface. It is part of the healing process. You can wear makeup after a facial. It doesn't affect anything. The only thing you shouldn't wear makeup after is getting a chemical peel.

  • I had a facial at the one month mark. Unless you're familiar with the person and place that's doing it I would NOT go any sooner than 2 weeks before the wedding. I had one at the one month mark and it took about a week before my skin was "normal" again.

  • I wouldn't get a facial that close to the wedding.  I have never had a reaction from a facial rather than being red for a few hours.  This summer I got one and maybe my skin was going through a sensitive period, but my face was red and blotchy for at least a week.  It was a mess I don't think make up would have covered it up.  Wait until after.

Exactly this!! But the break outs were SO bad they would not have covered up well enough for my wedding day or pictures!  I had actually been to this lady before and did not have a bad reacction.  However, she didn't do full extractions and was a little sloppy with the clean up so it clogged my pores a little more.  I would say even now not all of the break outs are fully gone (3 weeks) but it took two weeks until I was at a place to have make up actually make my skin look flawless again!
  • I am an esthetician and I get weekly facials and microderms. If you have never had one before I don't recommend getting one so close to the wedding. You needed to have got one before the week of to see how your face reacts to the product. There are so many different products and everyone does it different. Personally, I have been getting them weekly for the past 6 weeks to keep my face cleared up. I will continue to get them since I know how I react to them.

  • Ive gotten them in the past but not recently. Its been a few years. I should probably hold off. I think I will get a massage instead!!

  • A massage will be a wonderful way to relax before the wedding. : enjoy!

  • I would get the massage!
I have been using the Oil of Olay cleanser and the rotating brush every couple of days and it has helped my skin quite a bit.  It helps to tighten pores and exfoliates....not very expensive and you can get it at Sam's Club or Costco.
