October 2012 Weddings

So irritated with the USPS.

I had my shower on July 29.  I had a million thank you's to do and a lot of drama with a car accident that totalled our truck.  So I finally got the thank you's out a month later on the 30th of August.  So my aunt calls my mom the other day to say how lovely the thank you's were, but that they were arriving with a postage due sticker!!  I even took these suckers down there and had them checked for postage.  I was told they were only $.45.  They are arriving to my guests with $.20 due!!  I'm pretty much mortified.  And completely irritated.

Re: So irritated with the USPS.

  • I would be beyond annoyed!

I'm not even sure that there's a way to argue this with USPS???  Hopefully, people will understand that this is NOT your fault!

  • That is terrible!  btw, what kind of thank yous did you send that cost 65 cents??  For the wedding, I might try to find standard size ones.

  • Ugh, that's awful!  With my invitation, I made them double check everything - weight, size, bendiness, etch before buying the postage.  The first one I went to almost had me buy not enough!  I'm glad I asked though, until I almost died at the thought of $1.10 per.
  • They are standard size, but they have a bow on them.  Which is why I asked them to check because I figured it would be extra with the bow creating a slight bump in the envelope.

The PO is getting way to strick with their postage.  I think its because they are losing so much money to email.  I mean how often do you send anything anymore...

  • I'm confused.... Doesnt the po usually return to sender if there isn't enough postage? Maybe it was just your aunt that receieved it?

not that I know of.  They try to collect the difference owed from the receiver!!  I really am so mortified.  "oh hey, thanks for the gift, by the way, I'm going to need you to pay up if you want your thank you card."  omg...

and I have only received one back and that was because my FMIL had the wrong address listed for FI's godfather's wife.

Well its 20 cents. How does one pay the money? Just leave it in the mailbox or send a check? I don't get it.

Op, I am sure anyone who gets it is going to look at the 45 cent stamp on there and they size of the invite and wonder why on earth there is postage due. I would be super annoyed if I were you but I do not think it reflects poorly on you.
