Vendor Payments

Money is always something that stresses me out. That being said, I am really aiming to pay off my vendors fairly soon, and before I purchase any more decorations for the reception/ceremony. Curious to see where you girls are at? Have you made payments to vendors? Do you owe everything still or is everything paid off?

Re: Vendor Payments

  • I would have liked to pay off the DJ and the photographer and was prepared to write checks for them.  However, FI and my parents thought that we should wait until the wedding day and pay then so that they don't take the money and run.  I really don't feel like this will happen, but since it is FI's, my parents and my money I don't have the final say.

  • I keep track of everything in a spreadsheet. What we owe, what money is still coming in from our savings and our parents, what we've spent etc. We've only paid deposits. Most of our vendors need the final payment two weeks to two days before the wedding. We could pay in advance but I feel like when people still need your money, they're more likely to respond to any questions and give you their time. I kinda feel like once they have their money all bets are off lol. I'm kinda cynical and untrusting like that though.
  • All of our final payments are due 2 weeks before the wedding.  We are going to wait until then to pay everything off.

  • Our final payments aren't due until around 30 days out or up to the day before/of the wedding. I'm not worrying about it until then. The money will sit in our savings account.

  • We have paid:
    DJ
    video
    Limo
    Almost all of the florist
Photographer except final pymt which is due after we get our proofs back

Still owe and wont pay until a week before:
    venue

i plan on paying the church this week...
i just figure its one less thing to worry about....
  • We're all saved up for the wedding and honeymoon. About a month out we need to meet with all of our vendors and we plan to pay them all then. The only thing I want to have on the wedding day is our bar bill.

  • I trust most of my vendors because they are from a small town or people I have known before.

I have all of the deposits paid obviously, but the church is also paid for.

We have money for the DJ, Cake, Musician and Officiant fee just sitting in the savings. The only other things are the photographer (owe 70%) and florist (which I only owe half of still).

I'm hoping to pay my florist off soon and the Photographer requires payment two weeks out which I plan on doing at that time.

Thanks for your input girls! It's always refreshing to see where everyone else is at!

  • Everything will be paid for by next month except for reception. The final payment is due the week of, but I've already made 2 payments to them.

The DJ is a friend of my friend and he's in no hurry for payment and I meet with the photog in the next 2 weeks.

For us, everything is paid for except the remainder of our reception (we have paid about 2/3 off already), a bowling party we're hosting the day after the wedding for college friends, tips to be given the day of the wedding, and the hotel rooms for us for 2 nights, and our parents and my grandpa for one night each. We also will likely fill in a bit more to our wedding party gifts (probably a gift card for each of the girls and a bottle of liquor for each of the guys). I wanted to pay everything off when we could to minimize running around trying to get this finished in the last weeks before the wedding.
  • We are waiting until all final payments are due.  Like other mentioned, we don't want to risk them taking the money and running.  I feel like we can trust our vendors, but you just never know.
