Re: Caramel Apple Favor

  • I thought about this, but then I realized how expensive it was. I just recently saw a pinterest post that said make your own caramel apples with apple SLICES, and I thought this was genious. Most people aren't interested in eating a whole caramel apple, so it saves money and the mess of eating one! LINK

*edit* the site is in german I think, but still you get the idea! :)

  • Last fall I tried to make my own caramel apples because originally that's what I wanted to do. It failed miserably :(  I tried a couple different caramel recipes and none of them tasted really good, but worst of all I could NOT get the caramel to stick. So I gave up on the idea.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • I looked in to this but it was too expensive. Also, be careful about getting them shipped from somewhere. A lot of places will not ship them if the temp in your area is over a certain degree. I eventually decided that on top of the cost, it was just too much trouble. Hope you find a place that works!!

  • Happyapples.com has them for $1.16/apple. That includes shipping. That seems to be the best deal and since it's October, I'm not too concerned about the temp. I've read really good things about the service at the company too.

If happyapples falls through, affy tapple (the grocery store ones) has a factory store where you can buy bulk not far from us, so we have a backup plan.

  • We are making caramel apples, we actually practiced last fall to make sure it was affordable and practical. We mad 100 of them and just gave them to family and friends.
We are getting the caramel and sprinkles from

We are getting the wrappers, sticks, and nuts from:

We bought from both of the sites last year so I know they are legit. The apples came out to less than $2 pp.

We picked our own apples at an orchard near us.
