Thursday Thread?

So yesterday we had a big snow storm and my head start program let out early and then today I got a surprise of a snow day!!!!!!!!!  This is the first one ALL year long.  I am gitty like a school girl.

This morning we went for breakfast with our neighbors at the coffee shop on main street.  I have never eaten their breakfast sandwhiches and it was delicious.  We are also going to bring FI mini van to be sold.  We  were going to do it on Saturday but the opportunity came up.  FI is sad about getting rid of it he has had it for a while but he doesnt really use it.

What are you all up to today?  Did anyone else get a bunch of snow?

  • It's supposed to be a high of 81 today.  But then Saturday night, we are supposed to get down to freezing temps!  Texas weather is crazy and we get a snow day once every 10 years :)

  • We have had unseasonable warm temps all winter long, staying mostly above 30.  When we have gotten snow it is gone by the end of the day.  I don't know how I would feel to never get snow.  It is soo pretty to watch.

  • Hi fellow upstater...we also got dumped on but I'm still stuck here at work. :( My MOH and two of my BMs all work for schools and they all got snow days, and my FI got to stay home and telecommute. I feel like everyone got to stay home today but me!

  • I miss the snow a lot sometimes (I grew up in Colorado), but Texas has a lot of perks with the weather.  And living in Austin is even better because there are a few really pretty lakes that you can take advatage of during the spring, summer, and fall.  It stays pretty warm all year long, and the hot months are usually only June, July, and August, so it's not too bad.  As long as you can get on the lake or the rivers, you'll survive the summer just fine :)

  • I'm at work too.  We didn't get too much snow yesterday.  Its actually raining right now.  We were allowed to leave work early yesterday but FI & I chose not to since we would have to make the time up.  Plus the roads were fine when we left anyways.

  • 77 and sunny today. I was just gathering up my research to find a sunny place outside to work on it!

    I hate the snow!

  • I love snow!! We've had a really dry winter. Yesterday all of the cities north of us got dumped on and snow days....but not us. We had 45 degrees and rainy.

Today's a standard day....work. Tonight I have parent teacher conferences from 6-8 and then dinner with FI (he's cooking while I'm at work).

All of this while FI works on plans for the rehearsal dinner, which is getting more stressful than the reception.

  • Pocky-  Teachers LOVE snow days!!!!!!   However only to an extend.  Last year we had over 10 that sucked on paydays.

How sad to be the only one out of your friends to have to work.  boo to that.  I hope your FI makes you a yummy dinner since he is home all day.

  • Aimee- what is making your rehearsal so hectic?

Trawas- I dont know if i could handle 77 in the winter.  I really don't like it when it is hot in the summer, either

  • We had a snow day yesterday!  It was my first snow day as a teacher and it was just as great as when I was a kid :)  My fiance is from Texas and definitely does NOT like snow, so of course I started hitting him with snow balls...he'll get used to it eventually!
  • I am so jealous of everyone who is getting snow! :)
I LOVE snow, we usually get a few big storms a year on top of pretty regular light snow.  This year it snowed once in October (weirddd) and once in January.  The January one was actually the weekend of my BFF's wedding and I was out of state with her.  It worked out because her town got more snow than my hometown did so I was happy!

Today is a pretty normal day, I work two of my jobs so Im about 5 hours into my 13 hour day.  I hope the rest of the day passes a little faster!
I've loved you since I was 8 years old...

  • Kimm - I used to work for a school and the snow days were one of my favorite parts. :) And FI texted to tell me he was making an Italian stew in the crockpot, so dinner tonight should definitely be tasty and effort-free on my part! Now all I have to do is get through the rest of my afternoon and the drive home...

  • We had 6 inches. schools here are closed, but i work for a daycare for the hospital so we never closed besides our 4 scheduled holidays. They say doctors have to work when it snows, so should we. Well i agree, but sometimes i wish we had more than 4 holidays.
  • LOL its currently a cloudy 74... I wore a short above the knee dress to work today. Its been mostly warm temps all winter here in south GA. We had a few cold weeks and that's it!

  • Mild winter here in Western NJ....BOOO!!

I have praying for a snow day, so I could have nice afternoon to relax and do wedding stuff other having to cram it in on the weekends, which tend to be very hectic for us!!

Hope you had a great SNOW day  :)
