Getting Started!

Today I made a cute little binder for my planning purposes. We're also moving in about three weeks, so one side of the binder is for the Move, and then you flip it.... and there's the wedding side! When I find my cell I'll upload a picture. <3 

My entire wedding is in a very small budget, so a lot of it will be DIY, and the entire affair will be less formal. I'm lucky in that I already purchased a stationary set, so I just need to get it out of storage. I also already have Thank-You cards, both rings, some random paper lanterns (maybe I can use them?) and wedding shoes (clearance for $10!) It's been so long since I've looked at the stationary set, so I'm worried it might no longer fit with what I want/need, but I will deal with that tomorrow when we go to get it. 

The night of the wedding rehersal, I was thinking about doing something very fun and casual with the wedding party + family after the rehersal. We have a town nearby with a propensity for ghosts (big civil war town) and I thought it would be fun to do a ghost tour. But I am kind of worried about timing (Will I have time to do any last minute things that pop up? etc.)  

I'm not thinking much about the actual wedding day yet, I'm still waiting for my Pastor to confirm the wedding date & I need to look at the times for the ceremony still. My original venue idea was a beautiful 100-year old theater, but when my budget got cut, so did that. So, reception venue is still up in the air. That's next weeks "job" Cost is a big factor here, so it will be challenging to find the perfect location.

  • I am in awe at your calmness of a move with an upcoming wedding! Good luck finding a new venue, and I hope the stationary still meets your needs. Nice find on the shoes! That is my kind of shopping!

  • Binder is such a good idea!!!! It will help you keep a collection of your thoughts and help you keep organized. Post a pic when you can!

  • I was trying to do mine under 1000. Let me say it is not working. All the little things that I didn't think about has put me over. The biggest cost for me is the food. If you wanna do all the food yourself it will cut out a little bit more cost. I've got friends and family helping me out. Otherwise it would be outrageous.

    </div><div>I used packing tape to cover the front and back to make it more durable (doesn't look as pretty or well done.) But it's covering up a binder I bought a couple years ago for under $1 that has a large flowery peace sign from my university. I just used normal scrapbook paper (found in the $1 section at Target). Only bad part was I only had valentines day-esque paper (hence the candy hearts around the moving sign...) LOL. But it works ^_^ </div>

    3000 is totally doable. I've got a bunch of friends and family helping me... I'm doing my own music. What do you plan on doing for food? You don't have to have a professional photographer... look in Facebook for people starting out. Most are really good and looking to get their name out.

  • More checks:

    - Guest list draft completed (now the fun part of hunting down addresses... our computer crashed a couple weeks ago so I lost my pre-made guest list & addresses)
    - Registry ideas discussed
    - Hotel options explored, will be making calls on Monday to find out about group rates and availability. 
    - Explored Bridesmaids dress options. Still no decision, and I saved a bunch to show my MoH and the links were dead when I checked them again, so I have to go back and find them again. 
    - Discussed wording on invitations. Still need to tweak wording a bit. 

    Coming along.... i'll feel better when I have everything booked thoguh!!

  • You're coming along : it takes sooo much time! More than I thought it would. I'm not sure what all I have left... I've been working like a maniac since about a month ago. I have my bridal shoot this Monday.
    I still have to book the honeymoon ... not sure where bc I'm super cheap and don't want to spend a bunch of money.
