think it is possible to pull this off???

Re: October Rustic Wedding

  • It sounds possible; we are using similar colors in our wedding.  Check out some pintrest boards - there's tons of vintage/rustic/country chic inspiration.

  • I'm also having an Oct Rustic wedding.  I think the decorations will set the mood.

We did found a restored barn, but the reception is in a white tent... cocktail hour will be in the barn, and ceremony (weather permitting) in front of a gazebo under oak trees.

  • Can you put some hay bales in the gym?
  • We're doing something similar. We did find a barn, but it took some serious searching. It is a half hour away from where we live, so it's not bad at all.

I think if you can't find a barn, you can still totally pull off the rustic feel. Just put lots of personal touches and decorations everywhere.  :)

  • WE are having a rustic wedding as well... and we decided to go with a Sugar Shack as our location... (I am in Gatineau Quebec near Ottawa)

it is out in the country and the prices were exceptional... it has a very rustic but nice feel...

    so excited :D

I would have to disagree with PP about using hay bales; they are a good idea for making it seem more like a barn, but a lot of people are allergic to hay, and having it in an indoor setting is only going to make the allergies worse.  If you use them I would definitely let people know ahead of time in case they need to take medication.

I'm not good with decorations but a couple ideas came to mind:
Hang electronic lanterns from the walls/ceilings (if the venue will let you) or put battery-powered ones on each table as part of the centerpieces
Use hollowed-out-pumpkins instead of vases for you centerpieces (fake pumpkins would probably be easiest)
Tie (or tape!) a handful of artificial straw onto the back of each chair or stick it in with the centerpieces.

Some DJ's also specialize in "uplighting" which can really change the atmosphere of a room.  Maybe call around and see if anyone can make it look/feel more rustic.
