Mens Wearhouse

So we decided on using Men's Wearhouse because I have a few out of town WP people and it was just easeir to do it that way since they're everywhere.  Today we went and I really didn't understand the reasoning on why they dont have jackets on for you to try.  How do you know what looks good??  Is this the norm at other tux stores?  I'm hoping the one we picked will look nice....

Re: Mens Wearhouse

  • When i went there I picked the one on the mannequin lol I'm not sure why they do it that way.

  • The Men's Warehouse in my city wouldn't even talk to me.  I tried for 15 minutes to get someone, ANYONE, to answer my questions and they all would run off and look busy.  The second FI walked in the store, then they were all over it.

Needless to say, we didn't go with them.

  • We had them order one so he could try it on along with the vest, a regular tie, and a bow tie so he could try it. I don't understand it either!

  • ya I found it quite frustrating as well but saw the same issue at Jos A Bank too.  And the sales people at both places were ridiculous.  At Jos A Bank, i went in with my dad and they kept trying to sell him 3 tuxes because they were on sale and he could 3 for the price of 1.  He doesn't know any of the other groomsman what does he needs 3 tuxes, they guy wouldn't let down, so we left.  the woman at Men's warehouse could have been my grandmother and was about that slow too... it was a painful experience.  And if she pushed any more Vera Wang tuxes on us I would have left that one too!

The people at Men's Wearhouse that we dealt with were wonderful. The guy here locally was the only one in the store for a little while, so we did have to wait, but when we expressed concern over the prices our GM were going to have to pay, he made sure we knew all of our options. I honestly didn't think about the issue of not trying on the exact coat that they will be wearing. He tried on a coat for size, but not the specific one. The store my dad went and got measured at was great, too. Neither tried to push anything on us.

  • We went with Mens warehouse, while it sucked you couldnt try anything on, the lady we worked with was awesome, she didnt push anything on us but then again i dont think i would let her, id prob give her the death glare, lol...esp when i was torn b/t a couple of styles she left FI and i alone to figure it out and then came back and gave her opinion on what was more popular, etc but wasnt pushy, i dont deal with pushy!
FI did try on a similar jacket for sizing and overall we were in and out in 15 min which makes me happy=)
  • I was complaining about this very same thing not that long ago.  We were shocked when we went in the first time and were told they have nothing to try on!  And you practically have to twist their arm to get them to talk to you and answer any questions.   We later went to a another location and pressed more and finally the lady let him put on one jacket that she got from the back, although it was standard length and my FI needs long. We left frustrated again.

Their customer service leaves a whole lot to be desired.  It was hard enough trying to get FI to look at tuxes when he thinks there is still so much time.   We are going to try to find a local tux shop that has better service, but I am sure FI will want to wait till the last minute before he is willing to go through that again.

  • Wow the people at our MW were nice. I was just there to approve what FI chose. He just picked a regular 2button jacket. The hardest decision was what to get for the RB because his tux costs the same and his dad is a GM. Fi didn't want to have him buy 2! We decided we would go ahead with the full tux and pay for it. Knowing him....if we went with a suit he'd pitch a fit about why his isn't like his daddys mr justins and mr donalds!

we went to MOORES which is Mens Warehouse here in Canada and the service was great
we had an appointement mind you, we signed up to get one at the local bridal show.

And yes we couldn't try on anything... but we know what we wanted... FI and his men have to go back for fittings in the end of August... begining of Sept I will be there...
it is ok for ME to see him just not him to see me right ? LOL

  • Hmmm... We went with MW, too, and didn't run into any problems. I went with my FI to one location, and they let him try on several jackets, pants, and shoes, and they dressed a mannequin in a couple of different options so we could see how different color combos worked. They were also great at the location I went to with my dad. He tried on a jacket and shoes, but not the pants.

Our biggest concern with them is that the prices are a little high, but we did go with their newest (and most expensive) Vera Wang tux. We could've been a little nicer to the GM and gone with a diff tux, but there was just no comparison when FI tried his on!
