woohoo! long

I know its early to even try to detail the ceremony music and stuff out but its something I've been thinking a lot about since DAY 1! Everything has to be approved by my Church and since we're not using any traditional 'wedding music' it needed to be done! So I sat down with my FMIL and FSIL at the computer and youtubed music and picked everything out for the ceremony...now I just have to pass off the list to get approved!
For those interested..these are the songs we are using from when the guests are being seated until the recessional:
Everything I do, I do it for You by Bryan Adams, Amazed by Lonestar, Memories of Us by Keith Urban This I Promise You by Nsync. The grandparents will be escorted down to Like Red on a rose by Alan Jackson, the preacher FI and FI's dad his BM will walk down the aisle because FI wants to walk down the aisle to Look at Us by Vince Gill and that's the WP's cue song to head to the front of the church! Then my FMIL will start the ceremony being escorted in to Endless Love the Shania and Lionel Richie version and the WP will follow her to the same song. We're going to have the GM and BM walk in together as couples with my MOH walking alone since FI's dad came in at the beginning. Then my Mom is walking me down to Mama's song by Carrie Underwood. After the vows we'll play From this Moment the Shania and Bryan White version. Then we'll exchange rings and the preacher will explain about the sand ceremony instead of it being a unity candle which most people here are used to and during that we'll play Your Love Amazes me by John Berry and then we'll be announced and the recessional will be Wrapped Up in You by Garth Brooks but we will probably fade that out early because it has like a 2 minute instrumental ending!

  • I'm in the same boat as you. Except ours is Catholic, which means a) technically we shouldn't be using recorded music AT ALL, but our priest is being most gracious 2) there can be NO words, so they are all string pieces. Next I have to submit every piece for his approval. He's already vetoed Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol as the priest deemed them inappropriate for a Catholic ceremony. The only one he has agreed to (and thank goodness since it's the only one I actually cared about) is Dare you to move by Switchfoot for what I'm walking down the aisle to.

  • I LOVE Iris by the GooGoo Dolls...if they're are no lyrics how is it innappropriate!? I think that's what made it a daunting task. I had to seriously listen to lyrics and make sure I loved the song!

Yes that was my argument exactly. I'm pretty sure the priest was not listening to the right song since he said it contained too many "f-bombs". Yea, there is no swear words in the actual song at all and it's about an angel falling in love with a human, what could be more perfect? Anywho, I will worry about it later. I got my song, so the rest is whatever.
