So my parents' house (the one I grew up in and actually the one my dad's father and my dad grew up in) was severely damaged about a year ago during the flooding from Hurricane Irene. Today it was, finally, taken down. It was very upsetting to watch and then some strange woman came and started taping it 'because she had never seen it before'. Really, who does that! It took about 20 minutes and it was a pile of rubble.
A (semi) local tv station was in town and taped some of it and ended up doing an interview with my mom - who had been interviewed last year as well, as a follow up. She started talking about how it would be sad that I wouldn't be able to get ready for my wedding in that house and that got me emotional and the camera man started to film me as I was crying and said 'sorry, I had to get you on film. In our business tears are like gold!" Who says stuff like that?
But a good part about the day was that we were able to get our marriage license done by my aunt who is the town clerk. The next 50 some days are going to fly!
