ok. so, apparently the average price for photography these days is 3,000 dollars! I really don't have that kind of money to spend on pictures.. Does anyone have a referral for different photographers in the DC area that are more reasonable. I am looking for creative wedding photography.. nothing really traditional. More fun type pictures. :-) thanks for any help KNOTTIES!

Well, first let me say, you pay for what you get. With that being said, I used Michael Clark, and paid $2k. My pics were gorgeous.

Perhaps you should post your budget and go from there. If you are on a limited budget, you can get a great photographer, but you need to be willing to compromise. Some ways to cut costs are: only have one photographer, no e-pics, hire for a limited amount of time (ceremony, formals, reception only - no "getting ready, following around shots), get a DVD of photos w/ reproduction rights instead of prints and albums and print them on your own when you have the money to do so. That being said, try Brian at http://www.brianraystudios.com/ We loved him; pics in wedding bio

email me and I'll send you a list of "photojournalist" style options. i agree you get what you pay for but found some reasonable $2000-$2500 options. the sticking points: * album -- $750-$1500 * rights to your images (so photog doesn't sell you to hallmark and you have the chance to sell yourself to hallmark) * rights to reprint * hours of service heymissy at gmail.com
