Hotel Room for Wedding Night

Hey Ladies,I'm having my reception at a hotel and will get a complimentary suite but it's nothing great and FI and I decided we'll be staying somewhere else.We want something nice so we're looking into the bigger/fancier DC hotels - the Willard, the W, Mandarin Oriental, etc.  Has anyone bargained for a special price for the wedding night, or do hotels raise the prices if you tell them that's why you're making the reservation?I'm tasking him with the job of making the reservation but wanted to see if anyone had any tips on how to get a good price at the more expensive hotels. Thanks in advance!

good luck! we didnt so much care about the room that night... we got the suite at our hotel and just wanted the bed and some food.  we got up early and went on our honeymoon so it wouldnt have been worth it to us to pay more.  The price of rooms shouldnt be any different regardless what you are using it for. It can't hurt to ask for a discount... but it wouldnt be more than the prices you see advertised.

We are staying at the Sofitel... they upgraded our room for free. :)  I just told them it was for our wedding night.

Do you have a good relationship with any of those hotels? We do at the Mandarin and at the Ritz Carlton. I get free upgrades because I patronize them enough.

Just something to remember, that if you wanted to have breakfast (or even just show up to say hi the next morning - which I remember was actually a big deal to my mom when my brother got married) it's going to make it a bit more difficult to get around. Not to mention, from what it seems - a glass of champagne, a little somethin'somethin', and you're in bed. Is there really a huge need for a fancy room? Save the cash for your honeymoon and get a super fancy room then!

We stayed at the Sofitel and they upgraded us for free into a suite b/c of our wedding night. But of course we had our room block there too. It was fabulous and the service there was wonderful.
