Meeting with photographer, what to expect?

Hi, I am going to start meeting with photographer and wanted to know what to expect? I have a list of questions, but after that, don't know what else to look for. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I'd ask the photog to bring sample of their work and a complete wedding album they have done. I would want to know about their style, what their favorite photos to take are, to tell me about weddings they worked on and specific locations they've enjoyed. And to just try to get a feel about their personality and professionalism. Also I would ask them to send you some references.

We asked a lot of questions about him personally - like music and style and such. Granted we did it all over e-mail - but it was nice to get a sense of his personal "style" because we KNOW we'll get along famously which is super important.

See how you feel during your meeting with them - do they make you feel comfortable and at ease? One question I asked: What was their most challenging event/wedding to photograph and why?

I think it is important to ask whether or not their packages include hi-res copies of all photos, whether or not they edit all of the photos, do they work solo or with an assistant (i.e. do you have to pay extra if you want a second photographer).  Also ask for access for some of their recent wedding proof websites - that way you can see how many images to expect, if all of them look great or just some of them, etc.

definitely make sure they will sign over rights to images right away (no waiting period).  I also asked about backup cameras too.

I think you should not only see all kinds of work, b/w and color. Also ask for a list of past couples and see if you can email me for their personal opionins on how the photographer worked through out the day. I don't want to spend my entire wedding time taking photos so for me it is important to know how much time we had to spend with the photographer? Did he blend in with the guests, I hate seeing video/photo people jumping all around during a ceremony. good luck..

Thanks for all your help! You guys are so nice to comment and give me an idea. I will definitely take these ideas to my meetings and what to expect from the photographer

How long do the meetings last? I had one meeting that was only 15 minutes (really short) but I liked the guy who was the photographer. But now I am worried it was too short of a time, what do you think?
