Best place for Bridesmaid Dresses

I grew up in Maryland but am getting married in New England where I went to school and currently live. Because so many of my bridesmaids are still in the area, I think it makes sense to find a shop in MD for my girls to seek out bridesmaid dresses easily and locally. I've been away from the area for so long; I'm not quite sure what the best shops are for bridesmaid dresses. I'm looking for short dresses with lots of variety. My BM are all fairly young and fun, so the typical bridesmaid dress won't do. I'm honestly debating whether or not to even do the BM dress route and just head out to anthropologie and find a cute (and more practical) dress. But for now, I think we'll check 1-2 out and confirm either way. Any suggestions for good places?

Aria in Dupont has TONS of choices. That's where I'm heading soon.

Second that--the price is good, and the bridesmaids can pick a style that suits them.Vera Wang dresses are also nice, but the materials differ by dress, so there's not so much flexibility.

I thought Distinctive Designs in Rockville had one of the largest selections of bridesmaids dresses in the area - and I went to about 9 in MD, DC and VA! We found ours online and then went there to try them on and buy them. They also gave us I think 20% off for ordering more than 5, I think it was so that was helpful. All 6 of my bridesmaids truly liked what I chose as did many of our guests who commented on how it was unique and not so typical bridesmaid-y.  It was comfortable and flattering on all 6 very diff. body types and sizes because it was a 2 piece. Here is what I chose: Nu-georgette fabric (like a chiffon)   Top in Lavendar (T105): http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/T105/ (shown with longer skirt but see below link for shorter skirt we got)   Shorter skirt in Lavendar (B205) - can't see color on this image http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/B205/

I am going through J. Crew.  They carry their bridal line in the Georgetown store, which is nice if they want to try the dresses on, rather than purchasing several different styles and trying them on at home.

I second JCrew. They have many different styles in the same color so your bridesmaids can find a style they could hopefully wear again. And even better, everything always goes on sale at JCrew.

Pearls Place online has a huge selection of dresses at discount prices. We tried on styles at Hannelore's in Old Town Alexandria (they have a huge selection) and then bought a couple of styles we liked at Pearls Place for about $100 off per dress. Depending on how much you want to spend, how about BCBG?Also a friend of mine recommended Nordstrom, you can return or exchange any item.  They have a bridesmaid section online, or your girls can just buy from the regular dress section.
