White Swan Bridal

Hi Ladies, I'm finally going dress shopping! Very exciting. I've been avoiding it like the plague. We're going to White Swan in Vienna on Saturday. Any reviews? Did you have a good experience? Anything would help. Thakns!!

White Swan is the first place I went to try on dresses. The owner (my BM and I call her Natasha Stolichnaya) is a Russian designer who can definitely come across kind of brash, but honestly, she really does know her stuff. She pulled a dress for me that both me and my BM were a little "Eh" about but she said she could tell from my overall style and personality that it would suit me. Wouldn't you know...as soon as I put it on, I was floored and so was my BM! That actually ranked up in the "one" pile for a while. I still have not bought my dress yet (taking a break from wedding stuff right now) but I went to White Swan twice and received excellent service and advice, even if Natasha was a bit of a hardass!

I used white swan for my dress.  I dealt with Lindsey who is excellent.  I actually found my dress at another store, which had the sample to try on, but didn't like that store. White Swan was able to order the dress for me and Lindsey did the measurments and it needed almost no alterations (they took the straps up an inch). White Swan also matched the price of a lower price store in the area.  They did my bustle to and it held up very well.  In all, I was happy with the experience.

I went to White Swan Bridal when I tried on wedding dresses and I thought the store was a C at best. They def. had an amazing selections of dresses and the consultants were nice- but the owner was a complete jerk and said that since my budget wasnt about $2500, I wouldnt find a dress ANYWHERE. She basically wrote me off once I told her my budget was $2000-2200. She then told me that every dress in her store was $1500- so I looked around and just ignored her. I found a dress that i absolutely loved- I tried it on and she said it was $1500 but that the alterations would be an extra $150-$300 and then the viel wasnt included, nor was the shoes etc...so then the dress wasnt $1500 right??? I was so annoyed. So i took down the style number and called around and found the dress for $900 PLUS ALTERATIONS!! And..its a brand new Casablanca dress.... i found it at ellies bridal in old town. i didnt like it there but ive heard good things- i know some ladies who have gotten thier gowns there. i just dont like someone says its one price, then asking ques. and then the price goes up....so its sorta a scam to me?anyways have fun giRL! its so fun and goes so fast!!

White Swan was my first place and I felt it was a little cold. My favorites were Maria's in Fairfax, Ellie's in Old Town and Roslyn's in Falls Church. Good luck!

Jenny - that's totally weird! I don't think I tried on a single dress there that cost MORE than $1500! The owner is legit crazy. I just ignored her. I didn't find what I liked there - I was looking for something really different and unique, and they just weren't the place. I will say though, that it's a great first place to go to. Having all the dresses on forms when you walk in make it really easy to see what they look like and better judge what you like. I just wouldn't expect to actually buy your dress there (I did have one from there in the running for a little while, and found it cheaper at almost every place I looked).

That is where I bought my dress! It still sits there waiting for me to come see it! I had a great time there. My favorite part is that the dresses are all on models so you can see how they look rather than in the plastic bags. Also, they changed the neckline completely on the dress I wanted but didn't like the straps. They meausred everything and even did a drawing of how it should look and faxed it to Jasmine. Of course I haven't been able to see i but my mom stopped by and said it looks exactly like I wanted. Darn living in NYC!
