Wedding Cake Questions

Here's a few questions about wedding cake:1. How many months before your wedding do you start looking/book your cake vendor?2. Do you have any recommendations for someone who is reasonably priced (like less than $4 a slice)? THANKS:)

Here's a few answers:1. We booked sometime in Feb/March for our Oct reception yesterday.2. Yes! Cakes by Carolyn. www.cbcakes.com. She did cupcakes for us and they were amazing! Guests went back for seconds and we still came home with over a dozen. They were amazing. And she's super reasonably priced.

We are using Margie from Artistic Cake Creations http://www.artisticcakecreations.com/.  We booked in May this year for our wedding next September.  Mostly because I'm neurotic about planning, but also because she's pretty cheap ($1.50/slice) and books really quickly.

Sorry to steal your post M...but is Margie really only $1.50/slice?! I just e-mailed her and I may just go ahead and book her without a tasting at that price!

Re: Margie-- Yes she is! That's what she starts at.  I emailed her tonight--she wrote me back right away!  Book her now though. She already told me no for my date in July because she's got some barmitzfa in baltimore to deliver and therefore can't do it!!!!

I am also using Margie.  We had our tasting and her cakes are fabulous!  The price is totally unimaginable for this area!   Our cake will be under $300 for 150 people.

I tried Margies cakes, and personally for me they were a bit on the dry side... I booked Kirsten's Cakery at $2.50/slice.

I'm also using Margie - I loved her cakes, and her prices can't be beat.  The other good thing about her, is that she's an artist (used to teach college level until they had kids) so she can really bring in great designs.  We had a picture that we wanted to use, and she had so many suggestions to improve the style to be more our colors and theme. We picked white chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. Yummy!

You should also try Wanda from Wanda's Cakes. She charges less than $4 a slice. I think it started at $3.25
