Cheap Wedding Invitation Ideas Needed

Hi again ladies!  I have gotten all my ideas for pretty much everything from you, so when I started thinking invitations---I figured I'd see what suggestions you have.  On vistaprint they have pretty cheap invitations, but then you have to add on everything else and I'm having issues getting the same pattern for everything.  So rather than continue to stress myself out--I figured I'd ask you where you got your cheap invitations.  Let me know!! THANKS!!

My parents offered to print my invites since I don't have a printer. I picked up two Martha Stewart invite kits on clearance for $10 for 48 invites at Michaels. I think it's going to come out to about $1.00 a piece including postage.

I'm kind of a dope when it comes to technology.  Was it super easy--like idiot-proof---to do it yourself?

M, you can make your own custom invites! I'm a dope with tech too which is why my friend is doing mine but I got all the stuff at paper source/michaels and came in around $120 total for everything. She's printing 4 invites per 8x10 sheet of paper and then using a cutting board (cause I don't know what they're called but those flat things from art class) and attaching the printed piece to a larger piece of black paper as backing and punching two holes in the top to tie ribbon that matches my dress. Then she's using a stamp on each. She's making the response cards, escort cards and reception cards to match. I'm sure I could do it myself but I trust her more! lol but I'm sure you can pull it off!

Ok S--just reading that was way too much---punching holes, ribbon....I work in a school and I still can't figure out how to use the cutting thing!  So if I can't do that--I'm worried about DIY things!!!

The kit is really easy -- it includes blank invitation sheets, RSVP cards, envelopes, and, in my case, invitation jackets. You just feed your paper into your printer and print right on it.

Lol! You make me laugh! I don't think it's too terribly hard! My friend is actualyl making mine cause she's trying to get some samples to go into business! I don't know how much she'd be charging but if you want I can ask if she'd be interested! The ribbon is an added touch! The layered invitation itself would probably not be too hard, a li ttle snip here a little glue there stamp it and good to go! lol

Try Rexcraft.com  I got my invitations in the mail today and they look amazing!  I went with one of their more expensive invitations and the total for 100 invitations, inner and outer envelopes (lined) and response cards and envelopes along with extra envelopes came to about $250.  I was very pleased.

I just saw today that target had their wedding invites on sale, and Michaels often has sales too as others have mentioned! that's most definitely one of the cheapest ways! Targets sale invites were REALLY nice!

I got mine at an online site through the Costco website (I'm not a member--anyone can do) and got simple but nice invitations, response cards, and envelopes custom text for less than a dollar each set. It would have been more to make them when you count the toner, and this was definitely easier!

I bought kits at Michaels - we googled coupons and each was 50% off.  Then I drafted the wording in teh template and took the file to Kinkos to print.  It cost me $100 to do 160 invites.  I then sent my envelopes to Inkspun and they printed all the envelopes for about $15 (including my return envelopes).  They looked great!  I also minimized the contents of my invites (no inner envelopes, no crazy inserts) and kept the postage to $.44/each.

I saw a post on weddingwire.com that I thought was incredible. Go to www.tampacalligraphy.com and click on Carlson Craft. In the product search, type Budget. The invites start at $36.90 for 100 PRINTED and the addressing is FREE. The only catch I saw was they only are printed in black or brown ink, and the invites are simpler, but you can do your punches and add ribbon or whatever.
