Outdoor Wedding Site with Recreation

Hi,

My daugher and her fiance want their wedding to be a combination of traditional and out doorsy. They want a cookout tpe atmosphere and recreation such as softball, volley ball maybe horseshoes. I've seen one place Nixon Farms in Maryand that may offer that type of atmosphere but does anyone have any othe suggestions?

Have you looked into some of the state parks? You can always rent the pavilions there, and set up tents / ceremony decorations, etc.

Black Hill Regional Park has some good sites, so does Meadowside, Rock Creek and Seneca Lake Park. There are some other parks around that I can't remember the name of, but I know people have had weddings at them.

It sounds like a summer camp would be a good option for them. There is one in western Maryland that is popular for weddings, but the name escapes me at the moment.

I'm not sure exactly where you're looking or if you want to stay in MD, but there is a place in Virginia called The Farm at Broad Run. It's in Broad Run, right by Haymarket. There is a pavilion with a small kitchen underneath, a fire pit, a lawn where you could probably do those recreational activities, plus beautiful scenery.
