Photog and Caterer on a BUDGET!

Hi Ladies - I'm trying to find inexpensive, but good, caterers and photographers in the DC metro area. I want to spend about $3k on food for a lunch wedding (approx. 150ppl), and about $2k on a photographer - is this possible?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks and Happy Wedding Planning :-)

I booked our wedding with www.JanaWeaverPhotography.com I think all her packages are under 1700! A friend of mine is doing our catering. Best of luck!

The catering budget might be a little low- I have heard if you look for catering companies outside the DC area you can get better rates. 3k would probably cover food but it's the service that gets you. I know 1 caterer sent me a quote for $4k and had forgotten to add servers- once she did the bill was $7k! that being said- just be upfront with your budget and the caterers will tell you if it's do-able. Also another place to look may be a restaurant- I found that the restaurant package price I was getting was more cost saving than a caterer.

Photographers- my budget is the same! I have found some great looking ones!

Good luck and hope this helps!

We're using Carly Arnwine www.carlyarnwineblog.com and I am in love with her style. She has a few different prices (under $2K) and I believe all of them include another session (we did engagement pictures). Good luck!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Seems like with all the recommendations I will be able to find a photographer, but the caterer seems to be another story! Lol

I used hinofoto.com and Hino was awesome! I paid $1600 for two photographers for 6 hours and got all rights to my pictures.

For the caterer you're looking for $20 a head which is really cheap... You might check out La Cepilla in Manassas, VA they have really good food and they cater events. I've heard their prices are pretty good. You could also do panera bread if you just want light lunch fare.... just be sure to throw out all the stuff with the logo on it cause that would be kinda weird. :)

Prices range from $500-750 and includes a 11x17 20 page coffee table book and / or a 16x20 canvas depending on the package you choose.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My sister and I are both using Kaptures by Kristi Kay.

All over her packages are $2,000 and below which include and engagement photo session which I am sure if you don't need she will reduce the price.

She has great packages which include photo albums for the b&g and the b&g's parents, cd with all the pictures, black and white, sepia tone, exstensive editing, and a whole lot more.  She is so much fun to work!

I suggest checking out Love, Magic & Mudpies Photography.  If I remember correctly, most of their packages are under 2k and they do really great work.

I will be using John South Photography (johnsouthphotography.com) for my wedding in September 2012.  They obviously haven't shot my wedding yet but the photos of theirs I have seen are beautiful.  Their prices are beyond reasonable and they are very flexible about customizing packages to exactly what you want.  John and his wife Donna are adorable and so kind. I think his most expensive package is under $2k so then maybe you'll have extra for your catering :)
