Planning a Wedding in DC 11 months out

Hello,

I was wondering if people think it is plausible to be able to find a suitable venue in Washington D.C. to host a wedding in early April if the planning only begins 10 or 11 months before the wedding date?

Definitely.  You may not get your absolute #1 top choices for all of your vendors, but it's definitely doable.

I planned our DC wedding in 10 months.  I didn't have any exact date when the planning started so we went with the best date the reception site we choose had available.  In my search for vendors, I only ran into one photographer and cake vendor that was booked.

I started 17 months out and still found that some vendors were already booked when I went to book them. I've also found a vendor that double-booked herself.

It will happen, and you won't get your #1 choice, but thankfully there's a lot in this area to choose from!

Absolutely. I planned an April wedding and found there was more availability than in some of the summer months, or even October. Good luck!

For sure, I think as long as your semi flexible with the date, (have a couple options in mind) you'll be fine.  Once you get the venue everything else should be fine, there seem to be a great selection of talented vendors in the area.  Good Luck!!

Totally possible!  I got engaged in August 2009, booked the venue in November 2009 for my July 2010 wedding.  Good luck!

Originally we were going to have our wedding in the fall and have moved it to March.

All our locations and vendors were free.

Don't stress out. I think the idea of having a "dream" or "perfect" wedding is ridculous.

10 months is more than plenty. Those girls who think that isn't enough time are nuts!

U can plan a wedding in that time...u just need to be focused to get the big vendors booked. I got engaged Jan 2010 and I have everything set for 10-10-10. U can totally do it! Good Luck!

You can do it.  We planned a late March wedding in 10 months.  We never had a vendor say anything was unavailable.

I've been planning a June wedding since late July (though to be fair, I lucked out on the venue).  It's totally do-able for April, though I'd get cracking and pick a church and a venue, since they're the first things to book up.  Also, some friends gave us very good advice:  do as much as possible in the first six weeks, when you have a bunch of energy.

of course you can! i got engaged in early Feb  2010, booked a venue 6 or 7 weeks later, and we're getting married in Aug 2010! you have plenty of time! the only problem we had was that we didn't have many Saturdays to choose from, so we ended up go for a Sunday, and u can actually get nice deals sometimes from vendors.
