Wedding Reception Help

I am looking for Reception sites for my wedding and am getting a little nervous, because I was looking to have it in July of this year.  Of course, many places are booked through October.  Anyone have any ideas for reception locations in the DC Area that are not too expensive.  I looked at Oxon Hill Manor, which is beautiful, but I am on the waiting list there for July 18th, so if the person who is currently holding that date, does not put money down, then it is mine.  I looked at the Strathmore Manion, but the catering cost is just too expensive.  Any ideas?

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm looking at a Sunday wedding though and tons of places have availabilities on Sundays. you might want to consider that as an alternative if the places you really want seem to be booked up

I was looking at a Sunday wedding also, because they are cheaper.  The person who was holding the date at Oxon Hill Manor, their hold expired yesterday, which means that the date is now mine!  I think I have just found my reception site.  Good luck to you...where have you been looking?  Any finalists?

Not sure how big your reception's are and/or if you are looking for outdoor space (maybe not if you're looking in July) but The Garden Terrace at The Washington Post recently opened up for weddings. It's a private space within the building ... 9th floor, seats up to 70 or so with a dance floor. Affordable rates. Just a thought. It's really beautiful at night.   www.BehindtheScenesDC.com/WPCC

That would be nice to get married there, but unfortunately I will have too many people (150) for that space.  I actually have decided on Oxon Hill Manor and have a date (July 18, 2010).  Now I just need to find a nice Catholic Church.  I really love St. Matthew's Cathedral in DC, but I don't know if they will allow nonparishioners to get married in the church.
