Cocktail Party venue in DC?

We're still on the hunt for a reception venue in DC. Our guest list is right around 100. W want to stick with a cocktail reception only. I'm okay with outside DC as long as it is metro accessible, but the fiance really, REALLY wants it in DC proper. Anyone have any thoughts? So far, most places have been too small. A lot of places that said "we can do 100!" clearly meant 100 sardines.

Oops, posted too fast! We do not want a hotel (unless it is a unique boutique hotel) or ballroom. We looked at Columbus Club in Union Station, but it is outside our budget. Other places we liked that are too small: F. Scott's and Tabard Inn.

You should check out Palomar in Arlington- they have a cocktail option (but it's more expensive than the dinner for some odd reason). Another really cool decently priced place was Arts Club of Washington- it's perfect for a cocktail and people are free to move about the whole house and courtyard. I've also been seeing the Textile Museum all over the blogs lately as a nice place.

    Good luck!

    Thanks!

We've been to a wedding at the Arts Club, but found the traffic flow a little difficult. Also, I've heard the Textile Museum is moving - too bad, that's a lovely building!

I think we've narrowed it down to a couple of spots now. All very different, but charming in their own way.

Well, we found a number of spots depending on number of guests, budget, and location. Are you looking for spots in DC, or in MD or VA? About how many guests? I have a fairly big list of places, so that may help give you some more specific ideas. For a start:

    Columbus Club in Union Station
Tabard Inn (Chantal is an AMAZING bartender. She was telling me about a punch she'd just made with flowers covering it)
    F. Scott's
    Josephine Butler Park Center
    Dumbarton House
Arts Club (we didn't like the traffice flow, but it might not bother you)
    Phoenix Park Hotel
Darlington House (we found it too small and loud)
    Carlyle Club in Alexandria
