Hello,
I need suggestions.  FI and I want a yummy cake with some pow taste.  Thing is we don't want to pay $7 or $10 per slice and we work during the week.  If I sound frustrated, I am frustrated.  I cannot take off in the middle of the week to go to a tasting.  So, if you have recs for a place is affordable ( $5 per slice or less) and has weekend tasting availability, send them my way please.

We are using Bees Wedding Cakes she's in Woodbridge http://beesweddingcakes.com/
She seemed flexible when I met with her.
    Good luck!

R--thank you so much for the recommendation.  I will have to check her out.  Her gallery of cakes sure looks appealing Smile.

After my post yesterday, I did some more thinking and want to make a couple of adjustments: we can go up to $7 a slice (less is preferred of course) and late weekday hours would be cool too.

Cakes by Design in Alexandria and Occuquan (spelling?).  We went to a tasting event she held on a Sunday afternoon.  Very creative work.

We are going with The Icing.  She has various prices and if you allow her to have final deisgn on your cake she will make you a coutour (spelled wrong I know) for like $7.00 a slice.  She also has the display cake with kitchen cakes as an option and thenif you have a say in every detail it is around $6.00 per slice.  We did our tasting on a Saturday.  Lynette (the lady who owns it) is really nice and she is doing our Groom's Cake too.  She has TONS of flavors too.  She is down in Stafford so it might be a bit of a drive for you like it was us but it was TOTALLY worth it.

Fluffy Thoughts -- we're having white cake with passionfruit, and red velvet with cream cheese.  Totally delicious, and we met in the evening.
