LIghting Questions - Any Advice?

Has anyone worked with any good lighting companies? How much should I expect to spend? I am looking for some basic dance floor lighting and then possibly some uplighting in the reception area.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any, since we DIYed our wedding lighting.  If you want DIY tips, I've got them at this link.

I called around a little and found at least one company that seemed very responsive and helpful.  They're Nomad Event Systems at http://www.nomadeventsystems.com

The rate they gave me was about $1400 to $1600 at my venue, which was helpful at least in terms of getting a sense for my budget.  Hope this helps.

@Maggie - I am also looking for some lighting to give the rooms a "wash" color. Can you let me know what was included in the quoted price?  Thanks!

I got some quotes from professional companies that ranged from 1400 to 2100. They wanted to put 41 lights in the ball room! I talked with my venue and they said that the professional companies always try to put too many lights in. My venue recommends trying to find a DJ that does lighting too. I am looking at one that has uplights, spotlights, and will do a custom gobo of our wedding monogram. All that plus 5 hours of DJ services including a separate setup for our cocktail hour for about 1500. I like that much better. Haven't met with them yet though...

Can you please give me the contact info of your DJ and how it worked out for you?

Our D.J. is bringing a lot of his own lighting and equipment.  They have a base package with lighting, and then for a little extra he's bringing specialty lighting with him.  www.grenierdj.com/">http://www.grenierdj.com/ I don't know if that helps at all...but good luck!
