Ceremony/Reception for Intimate Wedding?

Hello everyone,

We're planning a small wedding with 20 people invited. We thought we'd find a great place as our requirements were minimal -- a nice intimate space with great food but the staff  for the venue we've been trying to work with has been rather unresponsive to our request for a contract. Out of a bit of frustration and possible fear that this may be a sign we've decided we should look elsewhere. Our wedding date is 9/17/2011 and we've decided to stick to this date. Anyone have any ideas as to a nice place with an intimate feel that does their own catering? Our only major requirement is great food and possibly a good view.

It's hard to know without knowing what your budget is, or where in the DC area you are.  However, you might look at the private dining room of a Legal Sea Foods.  I'm not sure where in the DC area you are, but the one in Bethesda has a private dining room for up to 30 people.  They have menus that range from $25 pp to $75 pp.  One of the nice things about them is that you can have your guests order from whatever menu you make available when they arrive, rather than having to get people's food choices ahead of time.  And if anyone is on a special diet (due to allergies, being vegetarian, etc.), they are very good about giving you options.

Try Tabbard Inn in DC. They have excellent food, and they only do small weddings (56 people or less).

check out old stone house in rock creek park - they have a super cute garden area and i think it only fits like 30 people or something.
