Okay, I'm working on booking a hair/MU person and just heard back from Jill from www.jillthemakeupartist.com (on WeddingWire as Aisle Styles On Location). I was a little weirded out that she said that all payments (deposit and final) are cash only. Is this weird? Should I be worried? It just seems a little under-the-table for me. Have any of you ever used her before? What were your thoughts on the cash-only policy? Did she ever give an explanation?

As a makeup artist (bride to be also), I can understand the reason for not taking personal checks.  Maybe she hasn't gone through the process of setting up a paypal account which would make accepting credit cards much easier.  You might want to ask her if that is an option.

I handle money for a living and there are a lot of people out there that write bad checks. Also, having your own credit card machine is very expensive because you have to pay fees to the credit card companies (which is why some business don't take American Express or Discover as their fees are higher than MC or Visa). She may have no idea how awesome paypal is because it is a very affordable way to accept more payment types.
