PSA: Ann's Bridal Boutique - alterations

I went in for my first fitting last week - holy expensive!

They are charging me $250 to take in the bust just a little, and take the tulle from my mom's veil and put it on a comb - they don't need to take the dress in anywhere else, nor does it need to be hemmed.

They are also charging my mom $200 to have her dress hemmed and the straps shortened a bit - it's $25 more than the dress costs!

If I had more time and had thought about this sooner, I would certainly have taken it elsewhere!!

    I feel your pain!

Same with Hannelore's.  I live within walking distance so to save my time....I spent a fortune on alterations.  $600+ for hem, side seams taken in, bustle and crinoline added.  A hem is $250.

One of BM"s had alterations done there as well and it was $185.

Meanwhile I talk to my Mom and other BM who live outside of Pittsburgh, PA and they spent $70 and $30 for alterations.

I found a lady in Vienna called Judith (Judith's Boutique) and had my first fitting today.  Prices are VERY reasonable.  I'm not having much work done - sides taken in and bustle added - but only costing me about $150.  She's very friendly and has great reviews as well!

I didn't start there, and it was not the best service either. I had tried the dress on elsewhere (Katherine's) and was treated like CRAP so I called around to see who else had that dress, and found it at Ann's, and on sale. That's pretty much how I ended up there. I'm not sure I'd reccommend the place to anyone, they were adequate.
