need ceremony venue ideas!

My fiance and I just started planning our wedding for next summer.  We loved Top of the Town in Arlington, VA for the reception, but unless we want to pay extra, they'll only give us 4 hours for a ceremony and reception... so we're looking for alternative ceremony sites.  I love the idea of getting married in DC, outside, with either some historic building or monument in the background.  Has anyone done this or have ideas for sites (that don't break the bank either)?  Thanks!

I think it might be almost impossible to get a venue like that that doesn't break the bank. DC is soooo expensive, and you can't rent out the public space for a wedding that has monuments/stuff in the background.

Something I'm doing is I'm going to do a "trash the dress" session (only I'm not actually going to trash my dress) at the Cherry Blossom Festival later this year, because I always really wanted a cherry blossom themed wedding, but since we're getting married next month we decided to go with fall colors. But at least this way I'll get lots of pics of me in my wedding dress surrounded by cherry blossoms. Maybe you could do something like that? Find a more affordable venue, and then have your Bridal Portraits or some post wedding pics taken down in DC?

The Galleria at Lafayette Center is a "best kept secret" wedding venue! Check it out! Address is: 1120 20th Street, NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC. Also Soheil Photography is great for DC wedding shots..... he knows all the best spots! http://www.soheilphotography.com

What about the Netherlands Carillon, by Iwo Jima? Not in DC, but a great view of DC. It's less than half a mile to Top of the Town, so people could park at the reception and walk to & from the ceremony. $50 application fee.
