Do not have your disposable cameras processed at Walmart

All,

just a cautionary tale.  I try to suggest that in general people shouldn't put out those disposable cameras on tables because most of the shots you get will be junk.  The shutter speeds aren't fast enough for indoor use most of the time and people forget to turn on the flash so you just get very dark shots.  But one of my clients used them any ways and I got an email from her saying can you fix these up.  I couldn't believe it, the files that were put on a CD for her at Walmart were horribly grainy, dark, and fairly low resolution.  The file size for each was only about 1/2 megabyte.  This is the raw file size you expect to get for say a 1 or 2 mega pixel camera, i.e. what most camera phones take these days.  Consequently, if you were going to try to print photos out from these files, you'd have no chance of getting anything decent printed out larger than a 4x6.  So when in doubt, if you feel the necessity to have extra cameras out, get a few cheap digital cameras instead, or just ask your friends that did have cameras to post the photos.  For those that do go ahead and get the disposables, spend the extra dollar for the higher resolution versions, and if there are shots you really adore, have them either scanned professionally or just have proper reprints made up from the negatives.
