Reccomendations Please!

I've gotten a few proposals from caterers, but I'm not happy with the prices or the food for most of them. The one I really liked I found out was booked on my date!
Argh!

Does anyone have reccs for a good, not break-the-bank-expensive caterer that services the MD area?

Thanks!

the ones i found that said the magic words "we will work with your budget" are matters of taste, melt catering and eat and smile foods. my absolute favorite menu came from fine gastronomy- the prices are mid-range...but food ideas were very creative - not your standard filet or fish options. i havent gone to any tastings but hope this helps!

We're using Kitchen Gourmet out of Woodbridge, VA.  So far we've had a tasting and they've also been very responsive and a wonderful price.

My friend used them for her wedding and had nothing but wonderful things to say.  They also don't charge a cake cutting fee.  If you book them soon, they have a deal going on where you can get your china for free if you pay a deposit.  The food was amazing, by the way. :-)

I like R & R Catering and Main Event.  R & R proposal came in a bit less than Main Event, however at the mass tasting for R & R  I was not very impressed.  They invited us back for a private tasting and the food was fantastic.  We ended up going with Main Event because we felt like they were a bit more professional, food consistently tasted good and had better presentation.  They were able to lower their prices to be competitive to R & R after so negotiating.
