Alterations OTHER than Angie/Estee?

I am getting married in October, so I assume it is too late to get alterations appointments with the famed Angie or Estee. Does anyone have recommendations for another alterations person in the DC area? I live and work in DC, and so I ideally am looking for someone who is relatively close to DC and who is able to make appointments for weekends.

Angie was able to squeeze me in this month only two months ago, and June is known to be incredibly hectic.  Call/email her and ask, she's very nice and very good.

She was kinda pricey, but did a good job on my BM dress for a wedding I'm in this month.

I would try Angie though. I'm scheduled with her for August and my wedding is in Sept. So give it a shot. I hear the savings is worth it.

I had no problem scheduling my dress fitting with Angie ... and then rescheduling with 2 weeks notice!  She also works in the evening... give her a try :)

Thanks so much, ladies! I took your advice and gave Angie a call, and I actually was able to get an appointment with her.

I actually had my dress altered by one of these seamstresses (don't want to call her out, she's SO nice), but it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped actually, because I think she was so super busy. I ended up going to Alvin at New Couture, and he altered the dress absolutely beautifully. He was really affordable too.

So--I believed all the hype about these seamstresses, but I think a downside is they are really swamped and may not have time for the attention to detail. I think another difference is that Alvin is an actual designer--he literally makes clothes--and so he had a great eye for what would look good and how to achieve it. He's also incredibly nice and so fun to work with.

I really, really wish I had known about him beforehand so it would have saved me several trips away from DC (he's right in the city). Anyway, I'm sure all three are great, but for all future brides, just know there is another (even better, in my opinion), option out there for reliable gown alterations.
