Photographer recommendations ($2500 max)

My fiance and I just got engaged, and are scrambling to plan our wedding by August 14th of this year. I'm confident that the message boards here on The Knot will be an invaluable resource as we embark in this strange-but-exhilarating journey of wedding planning!

We're on a limited budget (which I'm sure is not unusual, who doesn't wish they could spend more on their wedding?), and so we're looking for a good photographer whose rates are in the $2000-$2500 range. We'd be okay with getting the digital images and foregoing the album altogether for the time being; we just know that we want beautiful photographs!

Thank you very much for your help

    Try Laura

She was below that price range when I met with her.  My only issue was I did not like her idea of an album.  There are several websites you can put together the album on your own though.

I second Cassidy DuHon! We're using him for our wedding and I think the total is coming to just about $3k, no albums, just digital rights. I'm just planning to do Shutterfly albums after the wedding.

We really like him because he's a little outside the box. I really think we'll get non-cookie-cutter pictures. We did our e-pics with someone else (Cassidy was in NYC, and just recently relocated back to DC and we decided to do our pics kind of last minute) and we weren't thrilled with what we got.

We're REAALLLLY looking forward to the wedding pics though!

We just signed with Happy Heart Photography and for just about $3k we have 2 photogs for 8 hours, digital pics, a 10x10 album, engagement session, and 8x8 engagement album. Ashley has an amazing a'la carte selection and great package prices... and not to mention, she is fantastic :)

We're using Anne Lord (great reviews) and super nice.  I think our package is $2100 which includes engagement pics, a DVD of our photos (we get the rights to them), etc.

Check out weddingwire.com, it's a great tool for any reviews that you need for local vendors - they're unbiased and from people who used them.

I recommend Brandy Crist-Travers with ModernToilePhotography: www.moderntoilephotography,com. She's an amazing person and a fabulous photographer.

A good friend of mine used Jenn Link. Depending on what you want in a package she might be in your range. She's really cool and easy going.

Linda Wang Photography www.lindawanphotography charges $1,800, and she is SO AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! We love her photojournalistic style, yet she seemed to fade into the background. She captured so manydetails that I had poured months of effort into. She was also very easy going and a real pleasure to work with.
