Need advice/encouragement... or just reassured I'm not alone.

I'm so discouraged!!!! My wedding is 120 somethin days away & I feel I have NOTHING accomplished. Frown I seem to run into dead ends everywhere as I try to get stuff needed to make this happen. The TO DO list on here says I've 159 things left to do & that I'm like 9months behind in doing it all. Cry HELP!!!!!!!! All my BM are several states away. My mom can't help. Plus 1 of my BM just got engaged so now I'm afraid we will all need to focus on making her day happen & celebrating her (she soooo deserves it but so do I)

Sorry just freaking out here. Prolly didn't even make this post right. PLEASE anything from my fellow Brides would be wonderful. Thank you.

Hang in there! I just got engaged and we are trying to get married in May - trying not to freak out too. I guess my advice to you would really be based on your budget. If you can afford it, I'd recommend hiring a *professional* wedding planner. Let the expert handle those details like providing sound recommendations, calling vendors, lining things up, doing the little nit picky stuff, and (awesome) guiding you through everything and keeping you on track with what you need to do. If that's not in your budget, I found two books that seem really helpful. (click to view) 1) Bridal Bargains: Secrets to Throwing A Fantastic Wedding On A Realistic Budget 2) The Brides Essential wedding Planner. For # 2 - definitely buy it in person from a bookstore, I ordered it online twice and it arrived damaged because it is big and heavy and it breaks during shipping. Good luck!

I started planning 5 months out and felt the exact same way. Don't worry you can do it and you can make it work. You can find a lot of affordable vendors by word of mouth and on places like this. Don't stress; just tackle each task one at a time. I have 129 days and I still have so much to do Wink

I was in the exact same position before I got married. Just breathe and know that you will be MARRIED at the end. Everything else is "dressing".

The approach that really helped me was to stop trying to get everything done at once. When you spread yourself thin with a million tasks, nothing gets done. I would pick one or two things and focus on them for a couple of days.
You can do it. Within the last two months, I found a caterer, baker and even finalized my location.

If you need names, or even some help, pm me. I got a lot of support and advice from this forum, so paying it forward would be the least I could do.
    We are here for you.

Well lets start with what you HAVE done. The Knot will make you think bad things about planning if you take that list of "to dos" to heart.

We can help guide you in the right direction... I'm almost sure you're not as behind as you may think! *hugs*

Take a deep breath and lets dive in!

    Just breathe.

You won't need to do everything on your TK to do list, that's just a general list. Many people use it as a basic guide on when they should do they stuff they need to do. Try going through it and deleting the stuff you don't need to do, then see what you're left with. Then just start working on it. Look at it item by item. If you start looking at the whole thing you will start feeling overwhelmed.

    It'll be okay ; )

Hahaha I've been a BM 17 times & this is the # 1 bit of advice I give my friends. haha but when it comes to me I'm having trouble accepting it I guess.

Yeah our buget is super small $1800 total (not including HM) sooo yeah pretty limited in that area. My MOH was going to be my planner but she is recently married, several states away & my recently engaged BM's MOH!!!! LOL so ummm she is a bit too busy. I had another friend who was going to be my planner but her father just had a Heart attack & she has 8 children & works full time ...so again she is BUSY!!!!!

I've already deleted the things that don't seem to apply to us so the TK to do list says I have 41 done & 156 left undone most of which are dated saying they should have been done before October. I don't have either venue, cake, cater, photographer, sound equipt, chairs, a florist, shoes, & I only recently moved to GA so I don't really know the area for salons for like hair etc later. I have a dress (sadly I did settle just to have something done) but it cost $600 & we haven't started on alterations yet so $$$yikes city!!! My Fiance designed our invitations so now we need a place to print & way to create or buy cheap enevelopes. I do have an officiant & a groom!!! LOL I know that is all that is important.. but if that is the case why not elope hahaha

Anyway THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH ladies!!! You are wonderful.

Hey, what city are you located in? I just got married in October in Peachtree City/Fayetteville area and have an awesome list of vendors. also trying to get rid of some of my decor:

Let me know if I can help in any way.

    you can do this!
first should be to get a venue set. my ceremony was at our local church, with the reception at a community center. those should be your firs things- esp since you already have an officiant :)
then, you can order the invitations. if he's already designed them, you can get them printed at staples or kinkos, or i love vistaprint.com. i'm thinking staples/kinkos might be less since you won't have to pay shipping.

where in GA are you? knowing that, we can reccommend venues, caterers, florists, etc.
i'm northwest metro atl- i know things about woodstock, kennesaw, marietta, canton, acworth, etc. feel free to PM me if you're around here and need some help!
