Setup and clean-up are the responsibility of the client

As a bride on a very tight budget I have been looking at a lot of places that you can bring in your own alcohol and catering. The biggest problem with that is the setup and clean-up is now my responsibility. Is anyone else running into this? Can your caterers do more of the clean-up at an extra fee?

I am currently looking at both The Solarium and Roswell River Landing. Both fit nicely in my budget but don't want to be taking out the garbage or doing excessive cleaning on my wedding day.

Do I need to get over this and be happy I found something in my budget?

  • I have no experience with this personally, but I would just run it by your caterer and see if they can do this for you. You could also hire some neighborhood/high school kids to do set up and clean for you, as they may do it for less.

Whatever you do, please don't ask your friends and family. Not saying you were, but a lot of brides think that route in this situation. They should not have to do this sort of thing as a guest at your wedding. If they offer, I still would refuse their help. I'm a fan of saving money and all when it doesn't put people out, but I don't want to see my mom carrying garbage in her nice dress, you know?

  • Hire a wedding planner and have her do it. Look on craigslist and hire someone who is just getting started. They offer their serves for cheap (sometimes free) but will do most anything to make you happy. That being said, just remember that they are not as experienced as someone you might normally hire.
  • I'm hiring people to set up and clean up my wedding through Busy Bodies Staffing. They are $25/hour. Try them!
