anyone having a band play at their reception? I found a band that charges 500.00 for 3hours and a hundred dollars a hour after that is that the average?

My fiance's band is playing at our reception, and they're doing it at a discounted rate.  I'll ask him what he thinks about the rate you've been quoted.  What kind of music do they play?  It sounds a little high to me, although I don't know how big the band is.  If there are more members, that raises the price.  If I were you, though, I'd hire a band with a fixed rate for the evening...  I can't stand hourly rates.  I like to know up front how much it will be.

That's actually on the low end from the research I've done...most of the bands I'm looking at are around 2500 and up for a 5 piece band for 4 hours...Depends on what kind of band I guess!

We were going to book a band, but they wanted $750 for 3 hours reception, $100 for the 15 min ceremony, $50 set up fee at reception and $50 set up fee at ceremony, even though the ceremony was just outside of the reception. So like 50 feet.

We went with a DJ instead
