rehearsal dinner cost

We were quoted $690 for a dinner for about 30 people.  Is this a good price?  I don't even know!  I googled the average cost and what I was quoted is much lower, but is it good for this area?  The food is Italian and quality food.....in Athens.

Our RD was $20pp, that included tax + tip already.  Did not include alcohol.  It was an Italian restaurant.

I think it kind of depends on where you're having it.  One restaurant, once we put the word "rehearsal" in front of dinner, wanted to upcharge my parents $4 extra per person, told us we had to sit in a very small room (in which we would be 5 people over the maximum) and non-alcoholic beverages would be charged "by the drink" verus the unlimited refills they usually offer.  (Total with each person having two beverages: $945.00 - 35ppl)

We opted for another restaurant with an outstanding chef who quoted $16 per person which included unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, two appetizers,  choice of two entrées, and two desserts plus the total rental (no fee) for their covered/ceiling fan outdoor deck overlooking the forest and river. The chef is creating two desserts for us: one is a chocolate-laden dessert, and the other is a fresh berries and cream dessert for the diabetics/low sugar folks.  She is also allowing us to bring in our groom's cake to have that night.  (TOTAL: $560 - 35 ppl)

I agree with Hydrophile. Depending on what you want, where you want it is going to make a ton of difference. I think it is a good price, but it really depends on what is included.

Thanks ya'll.... Yeah this price includes 3 appetizers, 3 entrees (family style), 3 desserts, coffee, and soft drinks.  Wine is extra.
