New Georgia Knottie

Hi ladies, I'm a Cincinnati Knottie who just decided to get married at my parent's home in Georgia.  I'm actually hoping to have the ceremony in a garden and do a backyard reception at their home.  I am having a tremendous amount of trouble locating a garden/park venue in the Dacula area.  Can anyone help me?  TIA

Welcome and congrats!  I don't have any ideas for that area, but hopefully some of the other ladies here will chime in.  You can also do a search for venues.  There have been quite a few posts about venues on this board.

Have you looked up the Elisha Winn House? It's off of Dacula Road toward 324. It is a historic site, the original Gwinnett County Courthouse, I think. The Four Oaks Manor is off Hamilton Mill Road, and it is a backyard type of place, absolutely beautiful though. As far as parks though, all the parks are Gwinnett County parks and most have recreational parks on them- try the new Harbins Park... I am from Dacula, and I may be able to answer more questions, so if you want to email me- megangsu05@yahoo.com....

There is a place in Buford, not far from Dacula, called Simple Gatherings at 4 oaks manor.  It is a really pretty house located on Hamilton Mill Road.  I think most of their stuff is all outdoors with a really pretty garden.  My wedding will be in the winter so we can't really do outdoors, but it looks beautiful.

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions.  Unfortunately, none of them will work out as it seems to be a theme that you must host your reception at these venues in order to have your ceremony there.  It's not like that here in Ohio.  I'm really bummed.  Not sure what we're going to do at this point.  Thanks again.

You can do this at some local parks - sorry I don't have a specific one in mind, but you can get a permit and have your ceremony in a garden or park. I'm not sure if that is in line with what you're looking for, but yeah lots of venues are more about the reception and the ceremony is just the "add on." GL!

AmeliaandSeth88, that's EXACTLY what I"m looking for!  I googled a million parks and recreation departments but couldn't find one in Gwinnett County. Please, please, please let me know if you think of any that I could contact.  Thank you so much!

Sweets, thanks for the welcome :)

Actually I had to wind up emailing the dept head because I can't see anything that looks appropriate for a wedding.  I kinda have this thing about play structures being in my photos ;).  We're shooting for mid June.  We've been engaged for a year and keep putting it off for one reason or another so I finally said alright, alright let's go to GA and do it.  My family is huge so it'll cut down on cost.

That's so silly. Why? Lol, totally kidding. I'm sure there are several that are more like gardens than parks, I just wouldn't have the slightest clue as to which.

Haha yeah, June is a good month. We said "uh, no" <-- actual quote, when asked if we were doing it though - both of our birthdays are in June and we're narcissistic like that. :) I feel ya on the huge family. You don't even want to know. :/ haha.

Hope they email you back something good!!
