*XP* Getting married in the Smoky Mountains - From Illinois

Hi Ladies!

My fiance and I have decided to have a destination wedding in the Smoky Mountains. We would ultimately love to move down there......but one step at a time :)

I have looked at the following venues:

Brasstown Valley Resort (Young Harris, GA)
Chota Falls (Clayton, GA)
Samson's Hollow (Townsend, TN)

If you are from the area or you are getting married in the Smoky Mountains and know of some great venues for 50 - 75 guests, will you please let me know! We are planning a vacation to the Smokys at the end of this month and will be visiting the venues we are interested in. We would love an outdoor wedding and indoor reception, but could settle for an outdoor reception if it was tented.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

Cassie

Have you actually gone to look at the three mentioned venues above, or have you just seen them online?

Friends of mine have been to a wedding at Brasstown Valley and said it was beautiful.  Since my fiancé and I are paying for our wedding, it was a bit out of our price range, or we would have had ours there, too.

    Here are some more ideas:

I had a visitor's guide to Rabun County that had a beautiful stone and timber venue available for weddings and such as well, but I don't know the name of it.  Have you contacted any of these areas' chamber of commerces as well?

I have just seen them online. My fiance and I are making a trip down to the Smokies in October and visiting the venues we are interested in. I will be sure to look at the ones you suggested, the Rabun County one sounds pretty!

My fiance is heartset on Brasstown Valley, we were thinking of doing a Thursday wedding and Renee from there said we would have NO venue fees if we went with a weekday wedding. So that was something for us to consider!

Thank you again for your help, I'm excited to look at your suggestions!

Brasstown Valley seems like a great place especially the no venue rental fees during the week!  Towns County (where Brasstown Valley is) and Rabun County are neighbors :)
