theme ideas???

Hello tk brides, I'm having a hard time deciding on a wedding theme. What's the purpose of it? Does it cost more money? I was just going to do a traditional simple wedding.. any ideas or suggestions? Would it be weird if all the bridesmaid dresses were different colors in the pastel category??  There will be 5 bridesmaids.. A little lost.. I'm on a tight budget also. Thanks! :

  • We're not having a theme. We're just going to do a traditional wedding with our colors.

  • It depends I suppose on what you think of as a theme.  A themed wedding, to my mind, woudl be liek say medieval, or carnival, and everyone wore more costumey attire and decorations, etc are more specific.  So you can be very themed and that's likely to cost more.  But if you use an overall theme as an idea/feel, like Backyard BBQ or beachside, that seems like an easier way to keep your ideas together.  I am going "rustic picnic," which really means keeping things simple, working with our outdoor site and it helps when I am thinking of decorations, does it work in that kind of setting, and using gingham tablecloths.  Your dresses I would think of as more of a "look" unless your entire wedding is based on having varied shades of pastel.  Of course, you can do whatever you want.  But you could think of your themes, for instance, as pastel and simple, or whimsical pastels, without having to spend a ton of money on having very matchy matchy stuff, unless that's what you want, then go for it.  I think though perhaps you are looking more for the feel of your wedding, rather then a theme?
