Help!! We need a getaway car in ATL area for our Sep wedding!

Hey knotties,

We need a getaway car for our wedding in Sandy Springs (ATL) this September. I have looked high and low and the rates are from $400 +! Given that our hotel is 3 mins from our venue, it totally crazy to pay that much fr car service. Do you know anyone who is renting their oldies or do you have any recs please help!

Does the hotel not offer transportation?

You can expect to pay anywhere from $300-$400 for a getaway car regardless of distance (and that's starting rates!) If you find those prices too high, try contacting the company offering the car, and telling them you need it for a few minutes only.  Most are willing to work with you.

Otherwise, have you or friends visit car shows that have started popping up with the increase in good weather.  There may be a private owner willing to help you out.

You could try to attempt to do what I plan on trying.

I plan to contact a couple of people trying to sell their classic cars on Craigslist about a month or two before the wedding and see if anyone will let me rent it for $100 - $200.

This would probably only work though if you don't have your heart set on it because you may not be able to find anyone willing to do it. Personally, it's just a nice to have for me.

KnaijaQueen: I suggest you offer them the money for THEM TO DRIVE when you're "renting it."  I don't know too many classic car folks willing to loan their vehicles to someone when they're also trying to sell it.

That would work if I were driving anywhere. My ceremony and reception are in the same place and I, specifically, don't actually want to leave in their classic car. I just want to take pictures in front of it.

Then, technically, it's not a "getaway car."  A "getaway car" is used when leaving the reception (or wedding.)

I based my response on your statement "Given that our hotel is 3 mins from our venue, it totally crazy to pay that much fr car service."  I thought you were looking for a car to drive from hotel to venue and vice versa.

Go to car shows in the area where your wedding is, and ask someone if they wouldn't mind parking their car wherever (venue, hotel, etc.) for pictures.  They usually don't mind as long as where you want them to park isn't out in the middle of a muddy field or something :)

We're using Atlantic Transportation and Limousine Services in Chamblee. Similar to your situation we just wanted a ride home which is about 30 min away.

We paid $325 w/tax for 3 hours which is their minimum ..comes with champagne too and red carpet treatment with signs for the car, cheapest rate we could find, but they have a nice selection of vehicles to choose from.

Since we have the limo for 3 hours, we plan to showboat around the city for awhile and sip champagne..then go home! Might as well right? :)
