Phillies themed reception

Hello all,
Wanted to see if anyone else is having or already had a Phillies themed reception? My FH and I are major Phillies fans and baseball is really what brought us together so it's fitting that we will have this theme at our reception.

We are going with the throwback Phillies colors for our wedding colors. I have several other ideas for the reception regarding baseball without it being tacky. I'm curious what ideas others have. Here's a list of my ideas so far:

~jersey as a guest book
~"will call" table with game tickets as place cards
~popcorn buffet
~candy buffet (baseball related candy)
~shelled peanuts at the tables (fortunately no allergies)
~pennants in our centerpieces (with our engagement photos being taken at CBP)
~rally towels for our entrance
~tables using players names
~Harry Kalas voice clips throughout the night
~Phillies garter
~wedding colors (light blue, maroon)

I'm sure I'm missing more but that's what I can think of now.

Looking forward to seeing others ideas :-)

HappyWithHim can probably jump in here.  She was a bridesmaid in a Phillies themed wedding that looks like it was done really well to not be so in your face baseball theme.  Page her if she doesn't see this!

We had minor baseball touches.  We did rally towels for our entrance (but used our colors), tied them to our escort cards which had a ticket look to them,  and I had a custom bobble head made as a gift for my husband.

I love your ideas!! DH and I went to a wedding a couple years ago that had a bit of a Phillies theme and they used a lot of the same ideas as you. One other thing I thought was cute was that they had the markers for the jersey guestbook stuck in glasses of sunflower seeds... They also had a ticket-style STD that was cute.

My coworker got STD's that were like Topps baseball cards.  They turned out really cute.  Their pic was on the front, and on the back their "stats" were all wedding info.

I'm not a fan of the peanuts on tables to be honest.  I'm not sure a venue would be happy with the possibility of a mess either.

You can hire the Phanatic to come to your event if he's not already busy with another commitment... I think it runs around $1000.

I really like the light blue/maroon color theme more than bright red :)  Good choice.

My friend had a Phillies themed reception about 2 years ago.  She had cake toppers created of her & her husband wearing Phillies Jerseys.  They were ADORABLE.  I can ask her where she got them if you want, because I have absolutely no idea.

They also had Rally towels that we all waved when they came in (to HK singing High Hopes)

I agree with MH about the peanuts.  Especially if any of your guests have a peanut allergy... that could be a big hazard to them.

Gzilla and I had a wedding plan that we were calling "The Dream" that would have been at the Diamond Club in CBP... and the BMs would have worn light blue dresses w maroon accents, and the boys would have worn light blue ties with fat P.  But that was about $30,000 over budget... so... yeah.  lol.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

LOVE all of the ideas so far!!! Thank you so much...

@dibsontop~ where did you get your rally towels from? I love those and I was trying to figure out how to put the rally towels at the tables without it looking bad. Yours look awesome! Also, where did you get the bobblehead done? I would love to do this for FH for a bday of Christmas gift and then we can decide if we want to use it for the cake.

@CaitC21: I will definitely PM you! Looking forward to seeing the pics

@MadamA: Love the sunflower seeds idea! In fact, may rethink the peanut idea altogether and do this instead... though I know there will be a difference in the budget

@MH: Omg about the Phanatic... we had joked about that saying we'd probably spend more to have him there than our actual wedding would cost but that's actually really reasonable. And thank you about the colors. Everyone we've told our colors to have crinkled their nose at the idea but then they remember who they're talking to since they know our love for the Phillies.

@RA: I'd love to know where they got the cake topper at. Also, you just gave me the perfect idea for our entrance (the HK idea)... of course, we will both probably get emotional/teary-eyed since he was such a big part of our growing up. Love that idea though. I'm sure the deejay will be able to find sound clips of this.

Thank you all again! Can't wait to share the ideas with FH :-)

We ordered our rally towels from RallyTowels.com (easy enough, right?!).  You get to design your own and send it off to them for printing.  They were pretty easy to work with and turn around time was quick as well.  Everyone really loved them.  And as a joke, we folded two Phillies rally towels inside of our wedding ones and gave them to DH's aunt and cousin who are huge Yankee's fans.  They thought it was hilarious.

I ordered the bobblehead from WhoopAssEnterprises.com.  They make cake topper's as well.  The regular bobble head is WAY too heavy to put on your cake.  Someone else here recently had one made as well.  I want to say it was one of the many *beans* that post here.

    that's super cute!!

we should have done our wedding with KC Chiefs and some Eagles stuff since we bet our wedding location on the game (back in 2009 when the Chiefs sucked- so i knew i had philly in the bag).

I've never been to a philly themed wedding, or rather, not to many weddings in general. But a thought on food...we did Tapas style food. Like 15-20 different entrees made bitesize that were served all night long with a few stations. But anyway, i havent been to the new ball park but i heard the food was amazing. what about making your food like "fancy" ball park.  I know my guests raved about the food (1- they liked it not being sit down, 2- they liked it not being buffet, and 3-they loved how unique and GOOD everything was).   So if there was some ideas other girls may have or the caterer...because it may be weird to be super phillies themed but then to have like chicken or fish as the entree. lol.
or maybe do something phillies food themed for cocktail hour (if you are having one)?
    just a thought...

My uncle had woopie cushons as his favor haha. But he put them right on every chair, so this could be a good place to put them, right on the chair where you would sit, that way it's available for everyone.

I finally remembered that I had seen baseball centerpieces on my florist's blog.  They're really cute.  You can check them out at www.whimsicalwelcomesflowers.blogspot.com They're back in 2008 but they stuck in my mind because they were different.  I know she did some other sports related things also at that wedding, but you'd have to ask her about them.
